Job summary

Rich Products Corporation is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic for the 4th shift in Niles, IL. You will keep production running safely by diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining plant equipment across mechanical, electrical, and control systems.

In this weekend role (Fri–Sun, 5:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.), you will troubleshoot PLC/SLC systems, calibrate sensors, document findings in SAP or CMMS, and support operations during changeovers while upholding GMP and safety standards.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of hands-on maintenance in food processing or regulated manufacturing.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of electrical and control systems.
• Experience troubleshooting motors, gearboxes, conveyors, bearings, pumps, and drives.
• Working knowledge of PLC logic troubleshooting; experience using SAP or CMMS systems.

Responsibilities

Purpose Statement

We’re looking for a skilled and experienced Maintenance Mechanic who takes pride in keeping production running safely and efficiently. In this role, you will ensure the reliable operation of plant equipment through mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and electronic troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance.

If you are energized by diagnosing complex issues, working with advanced control systems, and partnering closely with operations to minimize downtime, this role is for you. This is a Weekend position, occurring Fri - Sun from 5a - 630p

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and electronic failures on production equipment
• Utilize P and IDs, assembly drawings, schematics, manuals, and diagnostic tools to determine root cause
• Troubleshoot PLC and SLC systems, motor starters, VFDs, SCRs, and control circuits
• Restore equipment to safe, reliable operating condition with minimal downtime
• Install, calibrate, and maintain RTDs, thermocouples, pressure transmitters, I P converters, and flow meters
• Perform logic troubleshooting and basic SCADA navigation to support system reliability
• Support configuration adjustments and operational tuning as needed
• Execute scheduled preventative maintenance and calibration tasks
• Tune equipment to maintain optimal operating conditions
• Document maintenance findings and corrective actions in SAP or CMMS systems
• Identify recurring failures and recommend long term corrective solutions
• Create, update, and close work orders accurately in SAP
• Record labor, parts usage, and repair details
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs and participate in shift handoffs
• Perform basic plumbing, metalworking, fabrication, and general building maintenance
• Support HVAC systems and facility upkeep as required
• Maintain clean, organized work areas in accordance with GMP standards
• Follow lockout tagout procedures and all site safety protocols
• Participate in safety initiatives and report hazards immediately
• Support Operators and production teams during changeovers and troubleshooting
• Train new associates and team members on required maintenance skill sets
• Assist operations with basic troubleshooting when needed
• Contribute to production improvement and associate involvement initiatives

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

• High school diploma or GED
• 3 to 5 years of hands on maintenance experience in food processing or regulated manufacturing
• Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of electrical and control systems
• Experience troubleshooting motors, gearboxes, conveyors, bearings, pumps, and drives
• Working knowledge of PLC logic troubleshooting
• Experience using SAP or similar maintenance management systems
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to lift up to 55 pounds and work in a fast paced production environment

Preferred:

• Experience with Total Productive Maintenance practices
• OSHA 10 or 30 certification
• NFPA 70E training
• Instrumentation calibration training

COMPENSATION

In accordance with state law, the rate or range provided is Rich Products Corporation, its subsidiaries and affiliates ("Rich's"), reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may be higher or lower, based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, shift differential, and location.

Annual Range/Hourly Rate

$24.00-$37.00
