Job description

Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic

Department: Maintenance

Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor

Classification: Non-Exempt

Location: Pleasant Prairie, WI

Position Summary

Conducts machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance services.

Responsibilities
  1. Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
  2. Prepares and sets up machinery for scheduled production runs.
  3. Performs mechanical skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of packaging and production machines.
  4. Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  5. Diagnoses problems, replaces or repairs parts, tests, and adjusts.
  6. Performs regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities.
  7. Performs plumbing and electrical maintenance functions.
  8. Uses a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment.
  9. Detects faulty operations and defective materials, reporting these and any unusual situations to supervision.
  10. Ensures safety regulations are followed and maintains clean, organized work areas.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned or needed.
Qualifications
  1. One-year certificate from college or technical school, six months to one-year related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Technical training with exposure to meat processing equipment preferred.
  3. At least 2 years of related experience in food manufacturing.
  4. Strong organizational skills.
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  6. Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
