Job summary

Smithfield Foods in Wisconsin is hiring an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic to repair and troubleshoot food processing equipment and keep production lines running safely. You will work on equipment such as sizers, vacuum systems, conveyors, and packaging gear, with opportunities for skill advancement.

Starting pay ranges between $30.16 and $41.87 per hour with a $1.00 per hour shift differential for the 3rd shift. Relocation assistance and education benefits are available to eligible team members.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Performs repair and troubleshooting on food processing equipment including sizers, stuffers, vacuum pumps, vacuum packaging machinery, conveyors, slicers, injectors, microwaves and hydraulic units.
• Replaces belts, sprockets, gears, chains and valves.
• Rebuilds valves, pumps and gearboxes.
• Troubleshoots pneumatic and hydraulic machine problems and makes repairs as needed.
• Repairs machine guarding, bolt replacement and wear-related breakdowns.
• Welds machine components.
• Performs preventative maintenance like lubrication of parts, drives and chains.
• Installs equipment including air, water, gas hookups and leveling.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs repair and troubleshooting on food processing equipment to include, but notbe limitedto: Sizers,stuffers,vacuumpumps, vacuum packaging machinery, conveyors, slicers, injectors,microwavesand hydraulic units.
• Replacement of belts, sprockets, gears,chainsand valves.
• Rebuild of valves,pumpsand gearboxes.
• Troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic machine problems and make necessary repairs.
• Performs repairs to machines involving machine guarding, boltreplacementand breakdowns due to mechanical wear.
• Welding ofmachine components.
• Preventative Maintenance tasks, such as lubricating of parts, drives, chains, etc.
• Installationsto includehooking up air, water, gas and alignment andleveling ofequipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Crew Leader and Supervisor.

• Must be able to lift up to 60lbs.
