Job summary

RRD in Smyrna, Tennessee is seeking an experienced Army Maintenance Supervisor to maintain production equipment and perform electrical and mechanical troubleshooting on presses, die cutters, conveyors, and related machinery. This 1st shift role requires precise adjustments, alignment checks, and diagnostic skills to minimize downtime.

You will train and mentor peers, uphold strict safety and quality standards, and collaborate with theProduction & Manufacturing department.

Qualifications

• Must be skilled in installing, troubleshooting, repairing, overhauling, aligning, testing, and maintaining complex equipment.
• Advanced knowledge of equipment and machine control systems to trace malfunctions across mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic failures.
• Ability to interpret complex drawings and schematics to isolate malfunctions.
• Experience with manufacturing replacement parts and tolerances.
• Strong mathematical ability for measurements and tolerances.

Job Description

• Maintain the organization’s production equipment.
• Perform electrical and/or mechanical troubleshooting and repairs in response to equipment errors or failures.
• Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment—such as die cutters, web and sheet‑fed presses, inserting machines, folders, conveyor systems, bindery equipment—using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments.
• May repair or reproduce parts using welders or machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, drill presses, surface grinders, or other machine‑shop equipment.
• Train and mentor new and existing employees, ensuring consistent knowledge of company policies, procedures, and best practices.

Qualifications

• Must be skilled in installing, troubleshooting, repairing, overhauling, aligning, testing, and maintaining complex equipment and machinery.
• Must possess advanced knowledge of equipment and machine control systems to trace symptoms of malfunction and distinguish mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic failures.
• Must be able to perform precise adjustments for alignment, parallelism, and concentricity.
• Must perform precise measurements of air and fluid pressure and flow, and understand the mechanisms converting such readings into units.
• Must interpret complex multi‑view drawings, sketches, wiring diagrams, manufacturers’ specifications, and other technical material to isolate malfunctions in hydraulic pumps, motors, clamping devices, and positioning systems.
• Must have advanced knowledge of construction and assembly techniques for manufacturing replacement parts with complex configurations.
• Must knowledge of geometry, shop mathematics, and handbook formulas to calculate angles, clearances, fits, pressure, flow, and other parameters.

Additional Information

The salary range for this role at the RRD location is $24.88 – $35.50 per hour. Compensation is determined by education, qualifications, skills, experience, certifications, performance, shift, and location.
