Job description

Maintenance Mechanic – 2nd shift - 2:00PM to 10:30PM

Competitive hourly pay and a Monday thru Friday schedule!

2nd shift, midday, 2:00PM to 10:30PM - Monday thru Friday; requires the ability to work overtime based on work demands.

*This is a 2nd shift position, though initial training will be conducted on the 1st shift for a period of 4 weeks.
**This position will likely require a background check, fitness test, and drug screen.

Key Job Elements:
  1. Experience working with packaging equipment required, specifically, flow wrappers (horizontal bagging), cartoner machines, glue machines, extrusion machines, conveyor systems, mixing machines, scales, and presses;
  2. Perform emergency/reactive repairs of production equipment and conduct follow-up evaluations to assess effectiveness of repair;
  3. Maintain equipment according to Preventative Maintenance program and maintenance work orders;
  4. Responsible for facility maintenance;
  5. Complete and submit maintenance documentation and issue new improvement opportunities for review;
  6. Provide ideas and solutions to unplanned equipment downtime through design change, inspection techniques, or conditional monitoring;
  7. Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts to mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic controls;
  8. Read and understand equipment manuals, design drawings, and electrical schematics to complete reactive and preventative maintenance;
  9. Assist in 5S to optimize productivity and sustain a safe and efficient working environment;
  10. Comply with all plant safety, OSHA, and environmental regulations.
Education / Training:

Associates or Vocational degree in a mechanical or electrical field or industrial maintenance, or a combination of education and experience.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • 5 years of manufacturing/maintenance experience;
  • Knowledge and familiarity with mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment;
  • Electrical skills and experience with 24Vdc and 3 phase 480V;
  • PLC and VFD experience and troubleshooting;
  • Fabrication and welding experience is a plus;
  • Proven industrial maintenance experience;
  • Strong problem-solving and continuous improvement skills;
  • Ability to identify and requisition replacement parts;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Willingness to learn new techniques, processes, and procedures;
  • Computer skills;
  • Strong communication skills;
  • Ability to work responsively to meet production schedules;
  • Support maintenance activities on other shifts and weekends as needed;
  • Effective verbal and written communication with operators, supervisors, and managers;
  • Ability to follow written work instructions;
  • Part of our maintenance department is unionized under the International Chemical Workers Union Council/UFCW.
