Job summary

ProAmpac in Battle Creek, MI is seeking a skilled Millwright/Maintenance Technician to support daily production operations in a food packaging environment.

The role requires proficiency in machine tool operation, welding (MIG, TIG, Stick), reading blueprints, and performing PMs, with the ability to lift up to 90 pounds and work in high-noise, solvent-fume conditions. On-site position with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Journeyman millwright card or documented experience (8,000 hours).
• Thorough knowledge of machine tool operation (mill, lathe, drill press, grinder).
• Ability to read blueprints and perform PMs, pipefitting, fabricating and welding (MIG, TIG, Wire, Stick).
• Physical ability to lift up to 90 pounds and work in high noise/solvent-fume environments.

Job description

Essential Duties And Tasks

• Preform maintenance needs required for daily operations to keep running efficiently.
• Research and submit request orders for parts, equipment, and tools.
• Be proactive in resolving quality process failures.
• Suggest ideas to support continuous improvement in all areas of the company.
• Daily communication from shift to shift in the Engineering/Maintenance Department and with Manufacturing.
• Assist in the training of safe work practices for new employees.
• Abide by rules, regulations and guidelines set by ProAmpac, the State of Michigan (MIOSHA), and follow the AIB/Product Safety Program guidelines.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment suitable for the food packaging industry.

Skills And Abilities

• Machine Repair or Millwright Journeyman's card or documented experience (8,000 hours).
• Thorough knowledge of machine tool operation, i.e., mill, lathe, drill press, grinder, miscellaneous hand tools.
• Knowledge of measuring tools such as micrometers (inside and outside), dial calipers, different types of indicators, and measuring devices in both inch and metric.
• Ability to read blueprints and perform tasks such as PM's, pipefitting, fabricating, all types of welding (MIG, TIG, Wire, Stick) and use of oxygen/acetylene torches.
• Physical ability to work from a ladder or platform, life a maximum of 90 pounds, and see clearly at twenty inches or less.
• Ability to work in the following conditions: high noise levels, solvent fumes common in the printing industry, and medium heat.
