Catania Oils, a fourth-generation, family-owned business with 125 years of excellence in the edible oils industry, is seeking a driven Maintenance Mechanic for the second shift in Ayer, MA. You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, and help keep operations running smoothly across the facility.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Technical trade degree or certification is preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of related maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on production and facility equipment.
• Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Maintain accurate repair logs and assist with inventory tracking.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
• Support operational efficiency by minimizing downtime and waste.
• Follow all safety protocols, GMPs, and SOPs.
• Use basic PLC troubleshooting (Allen Bradley RS Logix 500).
• Perform basic welding and electrical diagnostics (24V–480V).

What You’ll Do

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on production and facility equipment
• Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
• Maintain accurate repair logs and assist with inventory tracking

Requirements

What You Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Degree or certification in a technical trade or maintenance-related field
• Minimum 3 years of related experience (required)
• Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills
• Comfortable working in physically demanding environments (bending, climbing, crawling)
• Experience with hand tools, power tools, and automated equipment
• Willingness to work in hot/cold conditions and confined spaces

Tools & Equipment You’ll Use

• Welders, torches, saws, grinders, drills, rigging equipment
• Forklifts, man lifts, ladders, scaffolding
• Automated systems: palletizers, conveyors, fillers, cappers, coders, pumps, gearboxes
