Job summary

Hscast is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to repair and maintain engines, motors, conveyors, and production equipment at our Indiana facility. You will dismantle devices, replace parts, test performance, and ensure smooth operation while observing safety protocols.

You will read instructions, perform basic arithmetic, and apply common-sense problem solving to diagnose issues. A forklift license on site is required, with no supervisory duties.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED, or 1–3 months related experience or training.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to perform arithmetic: add, subtract, multiply, and divide with whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out written or spoken instructions.
  • Fork truck license on site.

Responsibilities

  • Observes mechanical devices in operation to locate trouble.
  • Dismantles devices to access and remove defective parts.
  • Examines parts for imperfections and acceptable dimensions.
  • Inspects used parts to determine dimensional changes.
  • Adjusts functional parts and control instruments.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts and lubricates moving parts.
  • Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
  • Starts devices to test performance and reliability.
  • Sets up and operates metalworking tools to make/repair parts.
  • Repairs electrical equipment as needed.
  • Follows job instructions and training matrix where applicable.

Summary:

Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Observes mechanical devices in operation, watches and listens to locate causes of trouble.
  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
  • Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts.
  • Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
  • Lubricates and cleans parts.
  • Starts devices to test their performance.
  • Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
  • Repairs electrical equipment.
  • Follows job instructions and training matrix, where applicable.

Education and Experience

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
