Job summary

KIK Consumer Products is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic at our Mars, PA facility. You will keep production equipment running safely and efficiently, perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, and help drive safety and continuous improvement.

The role is onsite with 1st shift hours and overtime opportunities. Compensation includes a $5,000 sign-on bonus and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of mechanical experience in a high-speed packaging/manufacturing environment, preferably food industry.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to perform in a manufacturing setting.
• Strong interpersonal, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Time management and organization; multitasking in changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Independently identify and repair equipment issues within assigned area with minimal supervision.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Experience with troubleshooting bottling, filling equipment and gantry palletizers.
• Provide quick and innovative mechanical solutions to breakdowns using mechanics, fitting, plumbing, welding, machining and analysis.
• Respond promptly to equipment-related issues with a customer-oriented approach.
• Perform general electrical repairs including wiring, relays, solenoids, and 120v-480v systems; read schematics.

Your Role at KIK

As a Maintenance Mechanic, you'll play a key role in keeping our production equipment operating safely and efficiently. You'll perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, and respond to equipment issues to minimize downtime. You'll inspect, test, and service a variety of manufacturing equipment while helping drive safety, reliability, and continuous improvement throughout the plant. This onsite opportunity is based at our Mars, PA manufacturing facility, supporting 1st Shift (Monday–Thursday 9:00am-5:00pm, and Friday 6:00am-3:00pm), with overtime opportunities available. We offer a competitive pay range of $30.00–$32.00 per hour, plus a $5,000 sign-on bonus.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Independently identify and repair equipment issues within assigned area with minimal supervision
• Diagnose and troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic systems
• Experience with troubleshooting bottling, filling equipment and gantry palletizers
• Diagnose mechanical problems, provide quick & innovative solutions for mechanical equipment breakdowns by applying proven skills in the principles of mechanics, fitting, plumbing, basic welding, metal fabrication, machining, troubleshooting, and analytical problem solving
• Promptly respond to equipment related issues with customer-oriented manner
• Perform general electrical repairs including wire connections, relays, photo-eyes, solenoids, working with 120v-480v, diagnose and wire up motors and troubleshoot variable speed drives. Must be able to properly use multimeter and read schematics
• Perform preventative maintenance, and safety inspections
• Modify, repair, install and troubleshoot various conveyor systems including but not limited to roller, belt, intralox, gravity, chain plate type
• Diagnose, rebuild, troubleshoot and replace various pump types
• Experience with using CMMS (MaintainX) and documenting emergency and planned work and good communication skills
• Modify, repair, install, maintain, improve, and troubleshoot various types of machinery, equipment and facilities in the processing & packaging departments
• Setup, takedown, and relocation of Process and Packaging equipment
• Frequently modify packaging & process equipment for new products
• Provide solutions to routine or unique equipment problems.
• Experience with general shop tools and fabrication including use of grinders, saws, presses, lathes and mills
• Lifting, twisting, carrying up to 45 lbs. is a requirement of the position
• Working in non-temperature and temperature-controlled environments
• Possibility of working around high noise levels, depending on location
• Be able to wear full face respirator as necessary
• Must be able to work in accordance with Health and Safety and GMP regulations

What You’ll Bring

• 2 or more years’ mechanical experience in a high-speed packaging and/or manufacturing environment required (food industry is highly preferred)
• High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) required
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Ability to perform in a manufacturing environment
• Excellent Interpersonal, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Time Management and Organization; Ability to multi-task and react to changing priorities

Physical Capabilities

• Occasionally exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force (up to 1/3 of the time).
• Frequently applying 10 to 25 pounds of force (from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time).
• Regularly required to handle objects weighing up to 10 pounds throughout the shift (2/3 or more of the time) for moving objects.
• Must have the ability to perform the following: Climbing, Balancing, Stooping, Kneeling, Crouching, Crawling, Reaching, Handling
• Must be able to visually inspect parts and hear audible alarms and equipment signals, with or without accommodation
