POSITION SUMMARY
Perform set up, routine maintenance, adjustments, troubleshooting and repairs on liquid fill production line equipment (fillers, cappers, and labelers), pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical machines.
Responsibilities of the Position:
- Demonstrate team player qualities of cooperation and coordination, maintaining professional interaction with all business contacts daily.
- Maintain exceptional attendance, including working eight-hour days plus extra hours, on weekends and holidays.
- Comply with all safety requirements, including hazard recognition, housekeeping, accident and near-miss reporting, proper safety equipment use, and adherence to safety rules.
- Change parts, set up and adjust lines for various products, and monitor lines as directed.
- Diagnose machine malfunctions and operating difficulties; perform necessary repairs and adjustments.
- Wash out fillers between products.
- Adjust fillers, cappers, and labelers as needed.
- Inform supervisors of parts and equipment used or needed for replacement.
- Ensure proper torque fills and overall quality by coordinating with quality control.
- Perform routine maintenance such as greasing, oiling, belt changes, and periodic preventative maintenance.
- Handle and process hazardous, flammable materials in accordance with regulations.
- Be proficient in tasks outlined in the Skill Level Essential Functions table.
Marginal Functions
- Assist lead operators to keep production running, including tasks like putting bottles on line, packing, and assisting with labels.
Physical Activities and Demands
Includes walking, reaching, grasping, talking, hearing, standing, climbing, stooping, feeling, crawling, lifting small parts (25-60 lbs), and other physical movements necessary for machinery repair and installation.
Visual and Environmental Conditions
Requires good visual acuity at close range, ability to judge distances, and adapt focus. Work environment includes exposure to noise, moving mechanical parts, electrical hazards, and temperature variations.
Position Qualification Requirements
- Knowledge: Ability to read, write, perform basic math, interpret drawings and schedules, equivalent to two years of trade school.
- Experience: Minimum one year of maintenance/mechanical experience or two years of trade school/Associate Degree in a related field.
- Tools and Equipment: Filler, capper, labeler, bander, tape machine, unscrambler, drill, grinder, and hand tools.
- Certifications: None required.
