Responsibilities

• Acts as a millwright; installs and tests production equipment and fabricates parts as needed.
• Replaces hydraulic and pneumatic parts; changes bearings, chains, belts, and shafts.
• Repairs and replaces pumps; performs basic pipefitting and layout.
• Occasionally works on weekends/holidays and uses a full set of tools.

Hexcel is currently seeking a Maintenance Mechanic 1 for our Casa Grande, AZ, USA location. Start rate: $34.15 Per Hour during the New Hire Orientation Period – normally 90 calendar days, then increases to $35.95 Per Hour. This position is on our “T1” 2x2x5x5 shift: Monday, Thursday, and Friday (Week 1) 7:00AM to 7:00PM; and Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (Week 2) 7:00AM to 7:00PM. Overtime is often required.

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:

• Maintains and analyzes deficiencies in equipment or facility and makes necessary repairs.
• Disassembles equipment as necessary and repairs or replaces faulty components as needed using a variety of hand tools.
• Completes mechanical repairs or improvements on a variety of processes, equipment, fixtures, and unit operations.
• Acts as a millwright by installing and assuring that new and modified production equipment is working correctly. As required, fabricates replacement parts.
• Replaces hydraulic and pneumatic parts as needed.
• Changes bearings, sprockets, chains, belts, shafts, cylinders, and other interchangeable components.
• Repairs and replaces all types of pumps.
• Performs basic pipefitting, plumbing, threading, and layout.
• Works on weekends and holidays when requested.
• Must have full working set of essential mechanical tools.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Minimum of 1 year of experience with duties commonly associated with that of a mechanic/mechanical maintenance person.
• Technical Degree in the area of expertise from an accredited college or technical school preferred and may substitute for 1 year of experience.
• Working knowledge of computers.
• Valid Driver License.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
