Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in quarry or industrial settings is required.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment and plant systems.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heavy mobile equipment, crushers, conveyors, and other quarry machinery.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and lubrication issues and repair as needed.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns during night shifts to restore operations.
  • Carry out welding, fabrication, cutting and metal repairs as required.
  • Replace bearings, belts, pulleys, motors, gearboxes, and hydraulic components.
  • Document repairs and communicate issues to the day crew.
  • Follow safety policies and lockout/tagout procedures.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Amrize, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a Night Maintenance Mechanic to support operations at the Quarry located in Rockville, MD. The primary responsibility of a Maintenance Mechanic at a quarry in the aggregate industry is to inspect, repair, and maintain heavy equipment and plant machinery to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous production operations continuous production operations.


WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH


  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heavy mobile equipment, crushers, conveyors, screens, pumps, and other quarry machinery.

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and routine inspections to minimize equipment downtime and support continuous production.

  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and lubrication-related equipment issues and complete necessary repairs.

  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and perform emergency repairs during the night shift to restore safe and efficient operations.

  • Conduct welding, fabrication, cutting, and mechanical repairs as needed to maintain plant equipment and infrastructure.

  • Replace and repair bearings, belts, chains, pulleys, motors, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and other mechanical parts.

  • Monitor equipment condition and identify potential failures or safety concerns before they result in unplanned downtime.

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, document repairs, and communicate equipment issues and outstanding work to the day-shift maintenance team.

  • Follow all company safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, PPE requirements, and applicable OSHA regulations while performing maintenance activities.

  • Work closely with plant operators, supervisors, and other maintenance personnel to prioritize repairs and keep quarry operations running safely and efficiently


WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR


  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent

  • Required Work Experience: Experience in Quarry or Industrial Settings

  • Mechanical Knowledge: Strong understanding of heavy equipment and plant systems, including crushers, conveyors, and screening plants.

  • Troubleshooting Skills: Ability to quickly diagnose and fix mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues to minimize downtime.

  • Welding and Fabrication Ability: Skilled in welding, cutting, and fabricating metal parts for equipment repairs or modifications.

  • Safety Awareness: Committed to following all safety rules and maintaining a safe work environment around heavy machinery.

  • Prior hands‑on experience maintaining and repairing equipment in a quarry, mining, or industrial environment.

  • Reliability and Work Ethic: Dependable, self‑motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a maintenance team.

  • Physical Strength and Endurance: Capable of performing physically demanding work, including lifting, climbing, and working outdoors
