Job summary

RBC Bearings in Alabama is seeking a hands-on maintenance technician for our manufacturing operation. You will perform daily equipment inspections, troubleshoot issues, and carry out preventative maintenance while adhering to safety, health and environmental policies.

The role requires following SOPs, completing work permits and forms, operating forklift when needed, and training teammates. You will contribute to 5S housekeeping and work with others to meet production goals in a fast-paced plant

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required or equivalent.
• Experience in industrial/manufacturing environment preferred.
• Welding, electrical and mechanical work experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to SH&E policies and procedures; complete permits and other SH&E documents.
• Adhere to SOPs and Work Instructions; document processes and variations.
• Safely handle hazardous materials as needed.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and troubleshoot/perform preventive maintenance.
• Work in a team environment and assist/coach coworkers as required.
• Perform housekeeping and 5S; operate forklift and other motorized transport as needed.
• Communicate operation status to subsequent shift; report on time for handover.

Job description

• Adhere to Safety, Health and Environmental (SH&E) policies and procedures. Responsible for the completion of Hot Work, Line Break, Lock, Tag & Try, contractor work permits and other SH&E permits. Maintain a questioning attitude to ensure a safe work environment.
• Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and Work Instructions. Complete necessary forms, charts etc, to document the process. Respond appropriately to process variations.
• Ability to safely work with hazardous materials.
• Daily inspection of equipment. Troubleshoot equipment as needed and perform preventative maintenance
• Ability to work in a team environment and move to where the work is required. Train co-workers on the job tasks as required.
• Perform housekeeping and 5S. Operate forklift and other motorized transportation equipment as necessary.
• Communicate the status of the operation to the shift following. Report to his/her workstation on time in order to receive operation status from previous shift.
• Attendance at work is an essential function of the job.

EDUCATION:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

EXPERIENCE:

• Previous experience in an industrial or manufacturing plant ‘
• Experience with welding, electrical and mechanical work.
