Job summary

Schuff Steel in Stockton, CA is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to repair and maintain heavy fabrication equipment, including cranes and hoists, and related shop machinery. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, quick to learn, and familiar with OSHA/EPA requirements.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and 3–5 years of related experience; welding ability is essential; and the candidate must be able to work with minimal supervision while following safety rules and PPE.

Education/Training - Work Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and at least 3 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Specialized Knowledge – Certificates & Licenses

• Equipment Knowledge & Skills – may include but not limited to various shop hand tools and maintenance repair equipment
• Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, such as reports and repair orders to further provide documentation of completed tasks and future upgrades on equipment.
• Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure. Ability to apply basic math concepts.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to in depth understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standard and non-standardized situations. Ability to learn things quickly.
