Accelera in South Holland, IL is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for the 2nd shift (Mon–Fri, 2:00 PM–12:00 AM) with occasional Saturday overtime. You will perform essential repairs and preventive maintenance across HVAC, boilers, ammonia refrigeration, and packaging machinery to keep production running smoothly.

The role requires strong mechanical and electrical skills (hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, AC drives, PLCs) and a hands-on approach to maintenance, troubleshooting, and safety

Qualifications

• Requires HS diploma or GED; technical school degree favorable.
• 3–5 years in manufacturing maintenance preferred.
• Solid mechanical aptitude: machining, welding, metalworking, blueprint reading.
• Fundamental electrical knowledge: hydraulics, pneumatics, plumbing.
• Experience with PLCs, especially Allen-Bradley, is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Execute repairs and maintenance on plant machinery for peak efficiency.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance to reduce downtime and improve reliability.
• Identify parts and perform timely repairs to keep production moving.
• Service boilers, HVAC, air compressors, and ammonia refrigeration units.
• Troubleshoot AC drives, PLCs, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
• Provide technical support to production staff for safety and efficiency.
• Collaborate with team to improve maintenance practices.
• Use manuals and blueprints to support repairs.

Role Overview: Located in South Holland, IL, this direct-hire Maintenance Mechanic position focuses on the 2nd shift (Monday through Friday, 2:00 PM to 12:00 AM, with occasional Saturday overtime). You will play a vital role in keeping our production facility running smoothly by performing essential repairs, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance on a variety of systems including HVAC, boilers, air compressors, ammonia refrigeration, and packaging machinery. Success in this role requires a robust background in both mechanical and electrical systems, specifically hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, AC drives, and PLCs.

Professional Requirements:

• A High School Diploma or GED is mandatory, while a technical school degree is viewed favorably.
• We prefer candidates with 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing maintenance setting.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude in areas such as machining, welding, metalworking, and blueprint reading.
• Fundamental understanding of electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and plumbing.
