The maintenance mechanic position involves machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance. Under supervision, the mechanic performs maintenance and repairs on machine tools, welding machines, overhead cranes, air-powered tools, and other equipment as directed.
Essential Functions
- Provides emergency and scheduled repairs of production equipment during operations.
- Prepares and sets up machinery for production runs.
- Performs mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repairs on packaging and production equipment.
- Reads and interprets manuals and work orders to perform maintenance.
- Follows OSHA safety and health regulations.
- Disassembles and reassembles machinery such as boring mills, drills, lathes, and overhead cranes, ensuring proper operation before returning to service.
- Performs electrical maintenance following safety standards.
- Repairs forklifts and trucks as assigned, adhering to safety standards.
- Maintains air tools as required.
- Follows lock-out/tag-out safety procedures thoroughly.
