Job summary

Balchem Corporation is seeking a Maintenance Technician for its Barrhead facilities in Alberta. The role focuses on maintenance and coordination of equipment across manufacturing operations.

You will work with production teams to improve efficiencies, perform checks, lubricate motors, install and repair machines, and support annual departmental goals while maintaining GMP/ISO standards. The position requires apprenticeship in millwrighting and hands-on experience with power/hand tools and HVAC,

Qualifications

• 1-3 years maintenance experience in manufacturing; open to less with related education.
• Safe execution of mechanical/production equipment repair and procedures; use of power and hand tools; HVAC.
• Millwright Apprenticeship; Journeyman on site to support apprenticeships.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with leadership and production staff to improve efficiencies.
• Perform regular checks on production equipment and lubricate motors daily.
• Install, repair and program machines and equipment as needed.
• Maintain parts inventory and ensure GMP/ISO compliance.
• Support facility remodeling and address maintenance needs with managers.

POSITION SUMMARY:

To perform maintenance functions at manufacturing facilities located in Barrhead;

coordinate and assist and perform equipment maintenance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Work with leadership and production associates and supervisors to improve efficiencies
• Perform regular checks on production equipment
• Lubricate and check all motors on a daily basis or as required
• Install, repair & program machines and equipment
• Maintain critical inventory levels of all parts and equipment needed for production
• Keep the maintenance shop and work areas clean and organized as per GMP/ISO requirements
• Work with manager(s) to determine and address maintenance needs
• Assist in problem diagnosis; confer with outside representatives as needed
• Assist with the success of production and product handling when necessary
• Be an available resource for facility remodeling projects
• Responsible for self-involvement, team involvement and execution of tasks relative to achieving annual departmental goals

REQUIREMENTS:

• Preferred with 1-3 year’s maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, open to less then one year of experience with supporting education
• Knowledge of and skilled in the safe execution of the following: mechanical and production equipment repair, operating procedures and techniques; use of power and basic hand tools; HVAC
• Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc.: Millwright Apprenticeship (Journeymen Millwright on site to support apprenticeships)

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Manufacturing environment with exposure to powder mineral products, cleaning chemicals, restricted movement, dirty environment, hazardous materials, lifting and carrying heavy objects
