Job summary

Conemaugh Meyersdale Medical Center is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to support daily operations of the hospital’s physical plant. You will perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems to keep the facility safe and compliant.

Join the Plant Operations and Maintenance team to handle preventive work orders, assist with facility projects, and uphold safety standards for patients and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of two years of maintenance experience; hospital experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of building systems: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment.
• Familiarity with healthcare regulatory and safety standards (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA).
• Basic computer skills for work order systems and documentation.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and maintenance instructions.
• Ability to safely operate tools, lift, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, inspection, and repair of hospital facilities and building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and utilities.
• Execute preventive maintenance activities according to the facility's program and regulatory standards.
• Respond to maintenance service requests and work orders promptly while minimizing disruption to patient care.
• Assist with facility improvement projects, alterations, remodeling, and equipment installation per hospital policy.
• Support fire and life safety programs through inspections, drills, and corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, schedules, inspections, and work orders.
• Collaborate with Plant Operations leadership to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

How You’ll Contribute

• Perform routine maintenance, inspection, and repair of hospital facilities and building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and utility infrastructure.
• Execute preventative maintenance activities according to the facility’s maintenance management program and regulatory standards.

What We’re Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of two (2) years of maintenance experience; hospital or healthcare experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of building systems: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical equipment.
• Familiarity with healthcare regulatory and safety standards, including those from The Joint Commission, CMS, and OSHA.
• Basic computer skills for work order systems and documentation.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and maintenance instructions.
• Ability to safely operate tools, lift, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces as required.
