Job summary

Qualifications

• Experience in general building maintenance including knowledge in plumbing, painting, electrical, carpentry and HVAC.

Responsibilities

• Performs maintenance and repairs at all facilities as assigned.
• Maintains and repairs hospital equipment and health center facilities under supervision.
• Responds promptly to staff maintenance requests.
• Maintains the computerized maintenance system and schedules activities with supervisor.
• Assists in planning projects and coordinating with subcontractors as needed.
• Ensures grounds, landscape, and floors are well-kept and safe for staff and patients.

Established in 1980, the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center (GLFHC) is a multi-site mission-driven non-profit organization employing over 700 staff whose primary focus is providing the highest quality patient care to residents throughout the Merrimack Valley. Nationally recognized as a leader in community medicine (family practice, pediatrics, internal medicine, and geriatrics), GLFHC has clinical sites throughout the service area and is the sponsoring organization for the Lawrence Family Medicine Residency program.

The GLFHC Facilities Team is currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic. The Maintenance Mechanic provides general maintenance and repairs to all facilities, grounds, equipment systems and fixtures to ensure a safe and functional environment for staff and patients that is consistent for a medical environment.

• Performs necessary maintenance and repairs at all facilities.
• Maintains and repairs to the best of his ability all Health Center equipment under the direction of the Facilities Supervisor
• Responds in a timely fashion to staff maintenance requests.
• Maintains the computerized maintenance system
• Plans the schedules for maintenance/repairs with the Facilities Supervisor
• Performs small renovation/construction projects, in accordance to regulations governing a Health Center, with consultation from the Director.
• Advises/Aids in the planning of projects being performed by subcontractors.
• Maintains all Health Center tools and equipment necessary to perform maintenance functions.
• Responsible for all equipment pertaining to job functions
• Maintains the cleanliness of the grounds while on duty.
• Maintains the landscape around the buildings as needed.
• Performs snow removal at the entrances, pathways, dumpsters, and generator enclosure.
• Respond to plumbing problems by taking the appropriate steps to stop and clean up mishap
• Strip, wax and refinish floors if needed
• Perform emergency repairs to building or grounds as needed.
• Perform all minor repairs and maintenance under consultation with Maintenance Mechanic, Supervisor, or Director.
• Paint all sites as needed

Requirements

Experience

• Experience in general building maintenance including knowledge in plumbing, painting, electrical, carpentry and HVAC.

Education

• High School Diploma preferably from a trade school or GED.
• Proficient in English skills speaking, reading and writing.
