Kansas City Public Library is seeking a maintenance mechanic to oversee general maintenance of the library's facilities, equipment, and grounds under the Plant Operations Manager. The role leads staff and vendors and steps in for the Operations Manager when needed.

40 hours per week, this is a full-time non-exempt position with pay of $22.31 per hour plus excellent benefits. Location is Central Library in Kansas City, MO.

Qualifikationen

• Knowledge of plumbing systems and related tools and their uses.
• Knowledge of electrical systems and related tools and their uses.
• Knowledge of HVAC systems and related tools in their uses.
• Knowledge of carpentry and related woodworking tools and techniques, drywall installation and repair.
• Ability to repeatedly lift up to 60 lbs., stand for long periods, walk for long periods, and climb ladders up to 15 ft.

• Repairs and installs electrical equipment such as outlets, ballasts, circuit breakers and other electrical systems equipment.
• Repairs plumbing systems, such as sinks, traps, toilets, urinals, flush valves, supply valves and water fountains.
• Repairs and maintains building equipment such as roof drains, exhaust fans, gutters and downspouts, windows and doors.
• Operates and maintains HVAC equipment and software.
• Performs locksmith responsibilities such as repairing door locks, key making and lock installation.
• Repairs and maintains irrigation systems.
• Performs carpentry work including door installation, framing, drywall installation and repair, furniture repair.
• Repairs sidewalks and parking lots.
• Other duties related to maintenance of buildings and grounds, such as snow removal.

Description

Under general supervision of the Plant Operations Manager, the maintenance mechanic is responsible for general maintenance of physical plants, equipment, and grounds. Also manages staff and vendors to complete designated tasks. Will take the leading role with building issues in the absence of the Operations Manager and be a direct report to administration.

• Reports to Plant Operations Manager
• 40 hours per week.
• This is a full-time non-exempt position. The pay is $22.31 per hour, plus excellent Benefits

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday Thursday & Friday 8:00A.M. - 4:00P.M.

Job Duties (Essential Functions)

1. Repairs and installs electrical equipment, such as but not limited to, electrical outlets, ballasts, circuit breakers and other electrical systems equipment.
2. Repairs plumbing systems, such as but not limited to sinks, traps, toilets, urinals, flush valves, supply valves and water fountains.
3. Repairs and maintains building equipment, such as but not limited to, roof drains, exhaust fans, gutters and downspouts, windows and doors.
4. Operates and maintains HVAC equipment and software.
5. Performs locksmith responsibilities, such as but not limited to, repairing door locks and latches, key making and lock installation.
6. Repairs and maintains irrigation systems.
7. Performs carpentry work, such as but not limited to, door installation, framing, drywall installation and repair, and furniture repair.
8. Performs repairs to sidewalks and parking lots.
9. Performs other duties related to the maintenance of buildings and grounds, such as snow removal.
10. Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment

Work is performed at the Central Library and Library Branches throughout the district. Primary workspace is shared with co-workers in an office environment, other work will be performed in a public space amongst staff and patrons from a diverse socio-economic community.

• Demonstrated ability to work independently, acting in a pro-active manner to ensure facility is operating optimally.
• Ability to follow both oral and written directions.
• Ability to work with and take direction from Administration and Branch Managers.
• Basic Computer skills.
• Ability to read blueprints and equipment specification/operation manuals preferred, but not required.
