Georgia-Pacific’s Mt Jewett MDF plant in Mount Jewett, PA, seeks a skilled Maintenance Mechanic for a high-skill hourly role focused on safe operations and proactive maintenance of manufacturing equipment.

The job requires troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and the use of machine shop tools. 12-hour rotating shifts, overtime as needed, and a path to growth are offered along with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Experience installing, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial equipment.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance.
  • 2+ years in Industrial Maintenance or completion of a mechanical trade school program or apprenticeship.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical inspections, repair and maintenance on all machinery and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, power transmission and steam systems.
  • Input work orders and track parts, labor hours, and PM findings using computer systems.
  • Replace defective parts using welding, drill press, surface grinder and other machine shop equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment as scheduled or assigned.
  • Assist with creating job plans for future repair work.
  • Share knowledge through training and providing technical assistance to others.
  • Adhere to safety policies and wear PPE.
  • Work in high places and lift up to 50 lbs for long shifts.

What You Will Do
  • Perform mechanical inspections, repair and perform maintenance on all machinery and equipment
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, power transmission and steam systems
  • Utilize computer systems to input work orders, identify parts, maintain records such as labor hours and PM findings, etc.
  • Replace defective parts with new parts or repairing/reproducing parts using welding, drill press, surface grinder and other machine shop equipment
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment as scheduled or assigned
  • Assist with creating job plans for future reference on repair jobs
  • Share knowledge through training and providing technical assistance to other team members
  • Perform other related duties and completes projects as assigned
  • Adhere to and promote all safety policies and to include wearing necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Work in high places in excess of 80 feet, using man lifts and working in confined spaces
  • Performing work that entails lifting up to 50 lbs, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and/or pulling for at least twelve (12) hours a day
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Experience installing, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial equipment
  • Experience with preventative maintenance
  • Two (2) or more years of experience working in the Industrial Maintenance field OR completion of a mechanical Trade School program and/or Apprenticeship program
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Experience with precision alignment of motors, couplings, bearings, pumps and lubrication
  • Crane operations experience
  • Rigging experience
  • Experience troubleshooting conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and pumps
  • Experience with Machine Tool and Die
  • Experience with fabrication and welding
  • Experience with reading blueprints and precision measurements
  • Experience using a computer for record-keeping and documentation functions
  • High school diploma or GED
