Job summary

Purdue University Fort Wayne is seeking a full-time, onsite Maintenance Mechanic in the Operations and Maintenance division to perform building and equipment repairs and keep facilities in good working order. You will respond to work orders, service plumbing, lighting, doors, and related hardware, and convert lighting to LED while ensuring safety and preventive maintenance standards.

Responsibilities

• Respond to and prioritize daily work orders from campus requests.
• Repair plumbing fixtures, lighting, doors, and related hardware.
• Install LED lighting and modernize fixtures where applicable.
• Perform preventive maintenance on building equipment and systems.
• Conduct site walkthroughs and diagnose leaks; perform approved tasks.

We are currently seeking a full-time and onsite Maintenance Mechanic in our Operations and Maintenance division. This position performs general maintenance and repairs buildings and equipment. The hourly pay is $18.50.

Responsibilities

• Respond to and prioritize daily work orders from campus service requests that are submitted.
• Repair and replace plumbing fixtures including faucets, urinals, etc.
• Repair, replace, and install lighting fixtures, bulbs, etc.
• Convert lighting fixtures to LED.
• Repair, lubricate, and adjust door hardware, hinges, closures, etc.
• Hang, mount, and fasten items, equipment, furniture, etc.
• Diagnose and investigate leaks.
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks on building equipment.
• Daily walk through of assigned building(s) and mechanical spaces.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or GED.
• 3 years of general building maintenance experience.
• Good mechanical aptitude.
• The ability to move, lift, carry, push and pull 25 to 50 pounds frequently, up to 60 pounds occasionally.
• The ability to work at various heights on ladder, bucket trucks, etc.
• This position requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check.
• This position is Monday - Friday, 6am-2pm, no weekends, holidays, or on-call.

Preferred Qualifications

• Mechanical, electrical, plumbing and preventive maintenance experience.
• Commercial or industrial experience.
