Job summary

Solventum is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to support production operations at our Forest City, IA facility. You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot equipment, and maintain a safe, efficient plant environment in collaboration with engineering and external vendors.

The role operates on a day shift (Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm) with a starting pay of $31.00/hour. Candidates should have a technical degree in a maintenance field or a HS diploma/GED with two years of industrial

Qualifications

• Must have a technical degree in a maintenance field or a HS diploma/GED with two years of maintenance experience in an industrial environment.
• Nice to have forklift experience and ability to work at heights.
• Willingness to work overtime or holidays as needed.
• Proficient with reading blueprints and using hand/power tools.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair and perform preventive maintenance of fork trucks, material handling and custodial equipment, both powered and non-powered.
• General maintenance of facility building and property.
• Follow safety policies and housekeeping guidelines to maintain a clean, safe work environment.
• Collaborate with engineering groups and outside vendors on equipment design and debugging.
• Attend meetings and training at or away from the plant site.

This role works the Day Shift (Monday – Friday; 9:00am – 5:00pm) and includes starting pay of $31.00/hour.

The impact you’ll make in this role

As a Maintenance Mechanic, you’ll be responsible for supporting production operations, ensuring quality standards, and contributing to a safe and efficient plant environment.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Troubleshooting, repairing and performing preventive maintenance of fork truck, material handling and custodial equipment, both powered and non-powered.

Performing general maintenance of facility building and property.

Following all safety policies and housekeeping guidelines to ensure a neat, clean, efficient and safe work environment (may include possible hazardous material spill cleanup).

Working closely with engineering groups and outside vendors to assist with fork truck and material handling equipment design and debugging.

Attending meetings and training as required both internal and external of the plant site.

Possessing the ability to clearly speak, understand, and write in English to communicate effectively in both verbal and written contexts.

Required Qualifications:

• Possess a technical degree in a maintenance field

OR

• Possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher AND two (2) years of maintenance experience in an industrial environment

“Nice to Have” Qualifications:

• Prior experience operating powered lift equipment
• Ability to work at heights
• Ability to work overtime or holidays as needed
• Possess knowledge of hand and power tools, fabrication principles, basic welding processes, mechanical symbols and nomenclature, mechanical processes and design standards.
• Possess computer skills to manage multiple equipment and projects
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints
