Job summary

The Maintainer position at Crown Holdings, Inc. is based in Faribault, Minnesota. You will set up, adjust, repair, overhaul and perform preventive maintenance on can line equipment to sustain quality and production targets.

The role requires strong mechanical/technical aptitude and the ability to read micrometers and calipers. Training spans 4,000 hours with extensive on‑the‑job instruction; multiple shifts offer wage differentials.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull and lift 10–50 lbs.
• Stand at workstation for long shifts (may exceed 8 hours).
• Ability to read, write, speak, analyze, interpret and understand English.
• Ability to work all schedules and follow attendance policies.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures and noise levels.
• Must have verifiable mechanical/technical aptitude.
• Must pass Ramsay Mechanical Aptitude Test.
• Must pass Minimizer Test.
• Must read and utilize micrometers, vernier calipers, etc.

Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust, repair, overhaul and perform preventive maintenance on can line equipment to maintain quality and quantity production.
• Disassemble, replace, reassemble, inspect and maintain machinery and equipment as required.
• Measure and record can dimensions; maintain production and quality records.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform mechanical repairs and maintenance for production equipment.
• Ensure safety for all duties and areas of responsibility.
• Complete a 4,000-hour training program to become fully qualified as a Maintainer; extensive on-the-job training provided.

Job Accountabilities

The Maintainer will be responsible for setting up, adjust, repair, overhaul, perform preventive maintenance, quality adjustment checks, and evaluate can line equipment as required to maintain standard quality and quantity production.

• Has primary responsibility for safe mechanical performance of line and standard production output.
• Disassemble, replace, reassemble, inspect, and maintain assigned machinery and equipment as required.
• Measure and record all can dimensions against specifications. Maintain records of production, quality and other related records as directed.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues; perform mechanical repairs and maintenance for production equipment.
• Has primary responsibility for safety for all areas of assigned duties.
• The successful candidate will be required to complete an 4,000-hour training program to be fully qualified as a Maintainer. Extensive on-the-job-training (OJT) will be provided.

Crown’s Closures, Aerosol & Promotional Packaging (CAPP) Division manufactures a variety of packaging solutions for the largest consumer packaging companies in North America. Closures: We manufacture a variety of decorative food and metal vacuum sealed closures, metal and composite closures, capping systems for glass and plastic container manufacturers.

Job Requirements*

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull and regularly lift between 10 lbs. - 50 lbs.
• Stand at workstation for duration of scheduled shift, which may exceed 8 hours per day.
• Ability to perform basic math.
• Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language.
• Ability to work all assigned work schedules and comply with all time and attendance policies.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures and noise levels.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others.
• Must have verifiable mechanical, technical aptitude and experience.
• Must pass basic Ramsay Mechanical Aptitude Test.
• Must pass basic Minimizer Test.
• Must have ability to read and utilize micrometers, vernier calipers, etc.
• Must be motivated and prepared to participate in S.P.C. projects and functions.

Satisfactory progress during progression schedule is necessary for continuation in the training program. Performance will be evaluated at 1,000-hour intervals by the employee’s immediate supervisor.
