Job summary

Martin Marietta is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to join our Doswell, Virginia team. The role focuses on safely repairing and maintaining plant equipment, conveyors, pumps and other stationary and mobile machinery, with emphasis on preventative maintenance.

A typical day includes fabrication, welding, greasing, diagnosing repairs, MSHA pre-shift inspections, and operating loaders or haul trucks when needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent to perform responsibilities.
• 1 year of experience in welding and maintenance.
• Mining industry experience preferred.
• Welding certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Fabrication, welding, cutting, greasing, housekeeping and various shop or processing duties.
• Maximize equipment performance by repairing and performing preventative maintenance.
• Diagnosis/repairs with minimal supervision using electrical and pressure testing equipment.
• Complete paperwork to maintain equipment and operate the plant per company standards.
• Erect processing equipment and repair mobile equipment as needed.
• Conduct MSHA pre-shift safety inspections and operate loaders/haul trucks safely.
• Assist in training coworkers and perform other duties as assigned.

What to expect:

Martin Marietta is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to join our team. The ideal individual will be safety conscious, dependable, and motivated. This individual will be responsible for safely and efficiently repairing and maintaining plant industrial equipment and machinery. The maintenance mechanic position is responsible for repairing and maintaining stationary machinery, mobile equipment, and mechanical equipment such as conveyor systems, shakers, pumps, gearboxes, etc. This position is also responsible for preventative maintenance and repair of aggregate plant processing equipment and repair of mobile equipment.

Hours: 6:30AM - 4:30PM, Monday - Friday

A typical day for a(n) Maintenance Mechanic may include:

• Performing various roles, including fabrication, welding, cutting, greasing, housekeeping and various other shop or processing duties
• Maximizing performance of equipment by performing repairs and ensuring preventative maintenance is completed on a timely basis
• Performing simple and intermediate type diagnosis/repairs without constant supervision
• Utilizing electrical and pressure testing equipment within the company guidelines and safety standards
• Completing required paperwork to maintain equipment and to run the plant according to Martin Marietta Materials standards
• Performing erection of processing equipment and makes repairs to processing equipment and mobile equipment
• Conducting MSHA pre-shift safety inspections of equipment and work area
• Operating other equipment such as loaders and haul trucks in a safe manner as needed
• Aiding in the training of co-workers as needed
• Performing other duties as assigned by supervisor

You may be a good fit if you:

• Possess a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience to perform the responsibilities associated with this position
• Have one (1) year of experience in welding and maintenance
• Have experience in welding and maintenance in the mining industry (preferred)
• Possess a welding certification (a plus)

We are excited to share the base range for this position is $25.50 - $31.00, exclusive of benefits or bonuses (discretionary and non-discretionary). The offered base hourly compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, business need, market conditions, proficiencies, skills, education, and experience. Additionally, at Martin Marietta we place a high value on internal pay equity and will consider the compensation for those in similarly situated roles and direct team members. The posted range for this role represents the total reasonable pay range and does not solely represent a hiring range. Therefore, hiring at the top or maximum of the range should not be expected as it would not allow for salary growth opportunities in the role, would diminish promotion value, and may not align with internal equity.
