Job summary

Huhtamaki, Inc. in Kansas is seeking a skilled maintenance technician to repair and maintain production machinery in a manufacturing environment. You will read diagrams and manuals to troubleshoot, dismantle equipment, and replace worn parts while following safety guidelines.

This full-time role requires 5+ years of experience with electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, access to your own tools, and the ability to operate forklifts and lifts. A 12-hour shift and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years experience in maintenance with exposure to machinery, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to read, understand and comprehend blueprints and technical data.
• Must have own tools and possess good mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot machinery.
• Ability to properly use all power and non-power hand tools to safely perform job tasks.
• Ability to operate a forklift, scissor lift, boom lift and obtain annual certification.

Responsibilities

• Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment per diagrams, sketches, manuals, and specifications.
• Visually inspects and listens to machines to locate causes of malfunctions.
• Dismantles machines to gain access to problem areas using hand and power tools.
• Inspects and measures parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems.
• Removes and replaces worn/defective parts of drive mechanism or hydraulic system following blueprints and manuals.
• Follow all safety guidelines and company policies.
• Must work a 12-hour shift schedule and overtime as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Repairs and maintains, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment, such as production machines, conveyor systems and equipment.
• Visually inspects and listens to machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunctions.
• Dismantles machines and equipment to gain access to problem area, using hand tools and power tools.
• Inspects and measures parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems.
• Removes and replaces worn and defective parts of drive mechanism or hydraulic system, using hand tools and power tools, and following blueprints, diagrams, and service manuals.
• Follow all safety guidelines and company policies.
• Must be able to work a 12-hour shift schedule.
• Must be able to work overtime as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in maintenance with exposure to machinery, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• The ability to read, understand and comprehend written or oral instruction, technical data, blue prints, etc. and the ability to communicate effectively with others.
• Must have own tools and possess good mechanical aptitude to be able to troubleshoot machinery.
• Ability to properly use all power and non-power hand tools to safely perform job tasks.
• Ability to operate a forklift, scissor lift, boom lift and obtain annual certification.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Employee will work in a manufacturing environment.
• Must be able to lift 50+ lbs., standing, walking, climbing, bending, twisting, crouching, push/pull, reach above shoulders a great amount of time and hand/finger dexterity required.
