Industrial Maintenance Technician
Position Summary

This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production machinery, facility systems, and related mechanical and electrical equipment in a food manufacturing environment. The technician may also perform welding, machining, carpentry, painting, plumbing, and general building maintenance as needed.

The position supports reliable plant operations while ensuring compliance with food-safety, quality, regulatory, and workplace-safety requirements.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Inspect, test, maintain, and repair production machinery, packaging equipment, conveyors, and facility systems.
  • Conduct scheduled preventive-maintenance activities using established checklists and maintenance procedures.
  • Examine motors, drives, belts, filters, fluid levels, and other equipment components; replace or service parts when necessary.
  • Investigate equipment failures by observing machine operation, consulting technical documentation, and using appropriate diagnostic instruments.
  • Troubleshoot and correct electrical and mechanical issues involving industrial equipment.
  • Install, replace, adjust, and repair wiring, electrical components, mechanical assemblies, and defective machine parts.
  • Use electrical meters safely to measure voltage, current, resistance, and related circuit conditions.
  • Read and apply electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, repair manuals, parts catalogs, vendor documentation, and control-system information.
  • Diagnose and service industrial electrical systems, control panels, machine circuits, and electrical components.
  • Troubleshoot and calibrate equipment such as:
    • Relay-logic control panels
    • Cam-operated switching systems
    • Heating and humidity controls
    • Process-control valves
    • Pneumatic and hydraulic systems
    • Metal detectors
    • Inkjet printers and coding equipment
    • Electronic scales and meters
  • Work with and troubleshoot motor-control systems, including starters, run relays, variable-frequency drives, servo motors, and associated controls.
  • Repair, replace, and reassemble components using hand tools, power tools, precision instruments, and electronic testing equipment.
  • Support maintenance of packaging lines, conveyors, and other food-processing machinery.
  • Perform facility-related maintenance to help keep buildings, utilities, and physical plant systems in safe and efficient condition.
  • Maintain accurate records in the computerized maintenance management system, including work completed, parts used, findings, and corrective actions.
  • Help improve CMMS procedures, documentation, preventive-maintenance programs, and reporting practices.
  • Monitor spare-parts usage and maintain inventory records to support adequate stock levels.
  • Participate in maintenance projects and complete other assignments as directed.
  • Follow company procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices, food-safety standards, lockout/tagout requirements, and applicable regulatory expectations.
  • Work cooperatively with operations, maintenance, quality, and management personnel to support safe and consistent production.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least five years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in food or beverage manufacturing.
  • Practical knowledge of electrical and mechanical maintenance.
  • Experience with temperature-control systems, plumbing, packaging machinery, hydraulics, pneumatics, control valves, and electrical components.
  • Ability to work safely with common hand and power tools, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches, and electrical or electronic test equipment.
  • Ability to interpret electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, and control-system documentation.
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance and computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety practices, including lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Understanding of GMP, food-safety, and manufacturing-quality requirements.
  • Ability to work any shift, including nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and schedule changes when business needs require.
  • Successful completion of required pre-employment and ongoing drug and alcohol screening.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical training or certification in electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, or industrial maintenance.
  • Experience with electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Familiarity with USDA, FDA, OSHA, and CMMS requirements.
  • Spanish/English bilingual ability.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications.
