MAINTENANCE MANAGER – PLASTICS MANUFACTURING

A well-established manufacturing operation is seeking a Maintenance Manager to lead and restructure its maintenance department. This role requires both leadership and hands-on expertise — ideal for someone ready to build processes, establish structure, and create a strong team environment from the ground up.

The plant runs multiple shifts and processes, including printing and converting operations, and is looking for a manager who can not only oversee day-to-day activity but also develop a roadmap for long-term performance improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of maintenance technicians working across multiple shifts.
• Build and implement structured maintenance programs, training initiatives, and scheduling strategies.
• Ensure effective coverage of maintenance resources across weekdays and weekends.
• Collaborate closely with production leadership to troubleshoot issues and minimize downtime.
• Establish preventative maintenance schedules and processes to improve equipment reliability.
• Oversee parts inventory management and vendor coordination for repairs and service.
• Support plant-wide Lean initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
• Maintain a strong presence on the floor and actively support troubleshooting and equipment repair as needed.

Requirements

• 10+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or management role.
• Plastics industry experience strongly preferred.
• Solid understanding of industrial electrical and mechanical systems, with troubleshooting experience.
• Lean manufacturing background preferred, with experience standardizing processes and leading improvements.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to build team structure where needed.
• Flexible, hands-on leadership style with a focus on mentoring and accountability.
