Job summary

Unitex is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Manager for our Lawrence, MA laundry facility. The role leads a small maintenance team, oversees preventative maintenance and equipment performance, and works closely with production to minimize downtime.

The salary ranges from $115,000 to $125,000 per year plus annual bonus, with a standard Monday–Friday schedule and flexibility for PM shift coverage. This is a hands-on, non-office leadership position reporting to the General Manager.

Qualifications

• Must have high voltage experience (480V).
• Knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, steam, water, hydraulics and building systems.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical documents.
• Able to safely use basic hand tools.
• Experience in time-sensitive environments.
• Capable of vendor relations and parts purchasing to save costs.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required licenses to operate plant equipment.
• Understanding of energy utilization principles.
• Hands-on mindset; not an office job.

Responsibilities

• Manage 4 mechanics and 3 porters/custodians.
• Maintain preventative maintenance program for plant equipment.
• Lead team in diagnostics and troubleshooting.
• Monitor quality of repairs.
• Interpret production reports to improve operations.
• Coordinate with production and line personnel to optimize equipment use.
• Control spare parts inventory to balance capital and downtime.
• Interface with boiler chemical suppliers for boiler maintenance.
• Identify building and physical plant repair needs.
• Maintain porter schedule to maximize cleaning of plant and machinery.
• Interface with production to minimize production impact during repairs.
• Control energy costs via machine performance monitoring.
• Maintain safety programs.
• Update technical publications library.

Job description

Unitex, is seeking a HANDS ON Maintenance Manager (industrial machinery) to manage our newest state-of-the-art industrial laundry facility located in Lawrence, MA.

Compensation: The salary range for this position is $115,000 to $125,000 per year plus annual bonus, Actual compensation decisions are based on factors such as experience, seniority, location, and other permissible job-related factors.

Schedule:

Monday - Friday 5:30AM start time.

Also, need to be flexible to work and oversee the PM shift. This will be discussed at the interview.

Responsibilities include:

• Responsible for managing 4 mechanics, and 3 porters/custodians
• Maintains a preventative maintenance program for plant equipment utilizing manuals as well as PC based tools.
• Leads the maintenance team in performing diagnostic troubleshooting on all plant equipment.
• Monitors quality of repairs
• Interprets production reports and their use in improving operations
• Interfaces with production management and line personnel to dine the most effective ways to operate equipment
• Purchases and maintains proper spare parts in inventory that will balance tying up capital with minimizing plant downtime
• Interfaces with boiler chemical suppliers to ensure proper maintenance of boiler
• Identifies building and physical plant repair issues
• Maintains porter schedule to maximize cleaning effectiveness of plant and machinery
• Maintains proper inventory of chemical supplies
• Interfaces with production personnel to allow repairs to be made to minimize impact on production
• Controls energy costs through effective monitoring of machine performance and operation schedules
• Maintains safety programs
• Updates technical publication library (equipment, blueprints, schematics, etc.)

Required Skills:

• MUST HAVE HIGH VOLTAGE - 480 VOLTS
• Knowledge of industrial equipment fundamentals including electrical wiring, electrical components, pneumatic systems, steam systems, water systems, hydraulics and building maintenance
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents (blueprints, wiring diagrams, manuals, etc.)
• Ability to use basic hand tools properly and safely
• Experience responding in a time-sensitive environment with urgency
• Ability to interface with vendors and purchase parts in an effective manner, including cost-saving pricing and delivery
• Ability to obtain and maintain proper licensing needed to legally operate specific plant machines
• Understands basic energy utilization principles
• Desire to be very hands on and trains as needed - this is not an office job

This highly visible position requires you to take charge and supervise all aspects of the industrial maintenance department, including personnel, purchasing, machinery repair, preventive maintenance systems, etc. Position reports to the General Manager.
