Job summary

Oak View Group is seeking a Maintenance Manager to oversee maintenance programs and repairs for the Virginia State University Multi-Purpose Center. This role ensures building systems operate efficiently and safely, supporting game days and daily operations.

The position offers a salary of $60,000–$62,500 annually with comprehensive benefits. The venue is located on campus in Virginia and the role requires hands-on maintenance across multiple trades.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience performing a variety of facility maintenance tasks.
• Bachelor's Degree in Facility Management or related field preferred but not required.
• Vocational training in facility maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Maintains the building and its physical systems.
• Maintains HVAC systems.
• Performs basic plumbing, electrical, painting, masonry, welding, carpentry, drywall, and other trade-related tasks.
• Maintains and repairs building equipment.
• Keeps workspaces clean during and after tasks, including tool and equipment storage.
• Administers service agreements/contracts with outside vendors including pest control, scoreboard systems, and maintenance systems.
• Obtain quotes from vendors and secure written approval for purchases and services.
• Provide excellent customer service to internal and external clients.
• Know general building information such as policies, location, and amenities.
• Order parts and supplies and control inventory of tools, supplies, and equipment.
• Oversees work by outside contractors on building, systems, or equipment.
• Work independently and as a team; maintain records and permits.
• Assist in daily operation and maintenance of the arena; responsible for game day maintenance.
• Assist Operations Manager with Changeovers.

Position Summary
The venue Maintenance Manager position oversees and facilitates all maintenance programs and repairs and assists with building physical systems at the VSU Multi-Purpose Center.

This role pays an annual salary of $60,000 - $62,500

About The Venue
The Multi-Purpose Center is a state-of-the-art multipurpose venue located on the campus of Virginia State University in South Chesterfield, VA. The arena is able to seat more than 6,000 guests, making it the largest event venue located south of Richmond in the state of Virginia. The amenities-packed arena serves as a full entertainment facility hosting athletic events, commencements, live concerts, family shows, trade shows, and more. Formally opening its doors to the public in March of 2016, the VSU Multi-Purpose Center is home to the Virginia State University Trojans Basketball and Volleyball teams. The MPC is managed by Oak View Group, which is a full-service venue management and hospitality company that helps client-partners reimagine the sports, live entertainment, and convention industries for the betterment of the venue, employees, artists, athletes, and surrounding communities.

• Maintains the building and its physical systems.
• Maintains HVAC systems.
• Perform basic plumbing, electrical, painting, masonry, welding, carpentry, drywall, and other trade-related tasks.
• Maintains and repairs building equipment.

• Oversees work performed by outside contractors on the building, its physical systems, or its equipment.
• Work independently and as a team when completing tasks
• Keeps maintenance and repair records along with material safety data sheets and required records and permits.
• Assists in the overall daily operation and maintenance of the arena.
• Responsible for game day maintenance.
• Assists Operations Manager with Changeovers when needed.
  

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience professionally performing a variety of facility maintenance tasks.
• Bachelor's Degree in Facility Management or a related field is preferred but not required.
• Vocational training in the facility maintenance field.
• Must be able to walk for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift heavy objects as needed.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a current CPR certificate.
• Possession of one or more Virginia tradesman licenses.
• Strong understanding of OSHA regulations.
• Possession of valid EPA certification for the handling and use of HVAC refrigerants (preferred)
