Job summary

Bimbo Bakeries USA is seeking a Maintenance Department Leader to guide Team Leaders and Associates in delivering reliable, safe, and cost-efficient bakery operations. You will drive continuous improvement and coach staff to align with our operations excellence playbook.

The role emphasizes budgeting, cross‑functional collaboration, and ensuring schedule adherence while maintaining product quality. A strong background in maintenance management and Lean practices is essential.

Qualifications

  • Five or more years of hands‑on management experience in maintenance.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or related field preferred; HS Diploma/GED required.
  • AIB certification preferred.
  • PLC programming knowledge preferred.
  • Operational background in electrical circuitry, refrigeration, fuel-burning equipment, and machine mechanics.
  • Familiar with lean tools or a similar statistical process and control system.

  • Oversee the financial and reliability health of the maintenance department, including creating and maintaining annual budgets.

Position Summary:

Maintenance Department Leaders play an important role in helping BBU bake with world-class practices, win as one team, and grow our people. Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Equip Team Leaders to serve sales by analyzing data to ensure all production processes are running efficiently and the team is set up for success
Key Behavioral Competencies:

Operational Execution: This role requires the ability to think strategically about business needs, set data-based priorities, and build plans with Team Leaders, fellow Department Leaders, and their Bakery Leader to achieve improved business KPIs. The ideal candidate will have experience setting, achieving, and exceeding business performance targets. Set the Standard: This role has overall responsibility for achievement of Operations Excellence standards in their department. The candidate must be able to travel for meetings, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), benchmarking, etc., with an average of 10-15% of their time allocated for this purpose. They will have knowledge of safety and environmental-related concepts, including compliance with State, Federal, and Local regulations.

Education and Work History:
  • Five or more years of hands‑on management experience in maintenance
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or related field preferred. HS Diploma/GED required
  • A combination of education, training and experience that results in demonstrated competency to perform the work may be substituted
  • AIB certification preferred
  • Operational background in electrical circuitry, refrigeration, fuel-burning equipment, and machine mechanics
  • Possess conceptual knowledge of PLC programming; PLC programming experience preferred, ideal candidate will have PLC programming proficiency
  • Possess conceptual knowledge on Predictive Maintenance techniques
  • Must be familiar with lean tools or a similar statistical process and control system
