Job summary

Meyer Utility Structures, an Arcosa subsidiary, is seeking a Maintenance Manager for our Gadsden, AL plant. You will supervise personnel responsible for setting up, installing, repairing and maintaining machinery and fabricating metal parts and tools to ensure safe, reliable operations.

You will manage budgets, schedule work across all shifts in a 24/7 operation, drive Preventative Maintenance with Upkeep, analyze costs, prepare capital requests and ensure compliance with safety regulations and

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and control Maintenance Department operating, staffing and maintenance costs.
  • Plan and manage the maintenance department work schedule across all shifts.
  • Coordinate maintenance priorities and repair/installation with Production Supervisors and Manager.
  • Analyze and estimate costs for maintenance projects; prepare capital investment requests.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, health and environmental regulations and company policies.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and manage direct reports.

Job description

Meyer Utility Structures, an Arcosa subsidiary, is currently looking to hire a Maintenance Manager for our Gadsden, AL plant. In this role, the Maintenance Manager will supervise and coordinate the activities of workers engaged in setting-up, installing, repairing and maintaining machinery and equipment and fabricating metal parts and tools.

What You’ll Do


  • Monitor and control Maintenance Department operating, staffing and maintenance costs within established budget and guidelines

  • Plan and manage the maintenance department work schedule to ensure there is effective support across all shifts in a 24/7 operation.

  • Coordinate procedures, equipment maintenance priorities, repair and installation work on a regular basis in conjunction with Production Supervisors and Production Manager

  • Analyze and estimate cost on various maintenance and repair projects

  • Prepare capital investment requests and justifications

  • Ensure all department objectives are in compliance with Arcosa’s policies and all safety, health and environmental government regulations are followed

  • Prepare and conduct performance appraisals and evaluations for direct reports according to Company guidelines

  • Initiate requisitions of all shop supplies and repair parts

  • Coordinate with Safety Manager, Production Manager, Production Supervisors and Plant Manager on the implementation of safety procedures and ensure equipment safety

  • Develop and maintain a Preventative Maintenance Program using the Upkeep reliability system

  • Implement and maintain necessary departmental procedures and records for efficient operations.

  • Ensure record keeping accuracy of all logs for maintenance of cranes, mobile equipment and any other procedures or equipment records OSHA requires

  • Assist and direct workers in dismantling, assembling and installing industrial machinery

  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product

  • Perform root cause analysis and FMEA to reduce breakdown frequency


What You’ll Need


  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent maintenance experience desired

  • Minimum 7 years related work experience in manufacturing environment

  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations

  • Basic computer skills required

  • Must be able to prepare presentations for safety meetings, safety training and any other training beneficial to employees in achieving safety, and skills attainment goals
