Pyek Group's Typhoon Texas Austin Waterpark is seeking a Maintenance Manager to oversee routine and emergency maintenance under the Director of Facilities. The role requires hands-on skills in at least two trades and leadership of a maintenance team to ensure safety, cleanliness and park readiness.

Responsibilities include training, scheduling, enforcing park policies, coordinating with vendors, and developing preventive maintenance procedures across attractions and facilities.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of maintenance experience required, including 1+ year supervising others; waterpark maintenance experience preferred.
  • Ability to traverse property and equipment to diagnose issues and repair as needed.
  • Must be physically able to perform repairs and work in warm/humid outdoor environments.
  • OSHA-10, CPO/AFO, and First Aid certifications are desirable.

  • Schedule maintenance staff to ensure park opens/closes daily.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to meet safety and operating standards.
  • Develop and enforce preventive maintenance procedures across attractions and facilities.
  • Oversee vendor relations within approved budget and timelines.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Fire, ADA, OSHA, Health, Building codes.
  • Report facility issues to Director of Facilities.

Job description

Position Overview:

Under the guidance of the Director of Facilities, the Maintenance Manager oversees all routine and emergent maintenance responsibilities, including vendor relations for Typhoon Texas Austin Waterpark. The incumbent must demonstrate mechanical aptitude and showcase proficiency in a minimum of two building trades, including but not limited to: painting, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, welding, basic mechanics and/or equipment repair. The incumbent will be responsible for partnering with Human Resources to recruit, hire, train, coach, and discipline all direct reports and lead their team to ensure all company safety and cleanliness standards are exceeded.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Ensure a team-focused and others-first mentality is always demonstrated to assist the business with exceeding community & corporate expectations by partnering & supporting all team-members.
  • Manage direct reports while providing clear expectations for projects, goals, and daily operations to ensure all direct reports follow and/or enforce company & park policy. Shared by Park Leadership or outlined within Typhoon Texas Code of Conduct, Appearance Policy, Pyek Playbook or Employee Handbook.
  • Provide & document regular training, guidance and instruction to each direct report including but not limited to: new hire / re-hire training, pre-season training, in-service training as well as daily employee feedback.
  • Schedule maintenance employees (including yourselves) to be onsite in compliance with company standards to ensure the park opens/closes daily while completing all required before, during and after compliance checklists.
  • Ensure all required deadlines for tasks to open/close the park before and after operating days as well as all required tasks to open/close the park during operating days are met in a timely fashion as outlined by company leadership.
  • Work with key stakeholders across all lines of business to ensure their equipment and spaces meet operating expectations for employee work related responsibilities as well as employee and guest safety.
  • Execute and help develop comprehensive preventative maintenance procedures, under the direction of the Director of Facilities, for all attractions & areas of park maintenance which ensure the business functions in a highly clean & efficient manner.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly inspections with a high attention to detail to identify solutions that will reduce or eliminate downtime, lost revenue or injury.
  • Engage vendors, within purchasing and contract limits approved by the Director of Facilities, to ensure all projects meet cost & contracted expectations, timely scheduling and the completion of all assigned contracted projects.
  • Be responsive & accountable to required completion & record retention of checklists, inspections, inventory & timesheets as well as all purchasing & budgetary expectations associated with the Maintenance Manager role.
  • Ensure all areas under the purview of the maintenance team meet or exceed company cleanliness, inventory & organization standards. Respond in a timely way to resolve any concerns out of compliance.
  • Review, understand and ensure compliance with all local and national codes relevant to our area of business including but not limited to: Fire Code, ADA Code, OSHA Code, Health Department, Building Code, ASTM, etc.
  • Perform routine maintenance and timely repairs in the areas of painting, carpentry, plumbing, food and beverage equipment, and all related building components with excellence.
  • Report facility issues that are not immediately repairable to the Director of Facilities.
  • Follow instructions and industry best practices around safety & compliance when using equipment (such as ladders, tools, lifts, etc.), working in hazardous environments or using chemicals and/or cleaning products & materials.
  • Establish and foster a professional working relationship with other department leaders and their teams while ensuring shared projects are completed with oversight & excellence, even in one’s absence.
  • Meet or exceed any assigned deadlines with minimal supervision for all key responsibilities and properly report to your supervisor any deadlines which possibly could be missed.
  • Attend all meetings, training and/or conversations as expected.
  • Welcome appropriate other duties as assigned which can effectively be completed.

Requirements
Qualifications:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • 3+ years of maintenance experience required, including 1+ year supervising others; waterpark maintenance experience preferred.
  • Must be able to traverse the property & equipment to diagnose building or ride issues and repair as needed.
  • Must be physically able to perform repairs when needed.
  • May be required to stand for long periods of time.
  • Possible heavy workloads; exerting over 50 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or other wise move objects.
  • Bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching involved.
  • Must be able to work in warm/humid settings and hot/humid weather for outdoor waterpark environments.
  • Be able to work weekends, nights, and holidays.
  • May be required to be exposed to all types of weather.
  • Must be able to multi-task and be flexible in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office as well as Basic Computer Skills & App based technology.
  • Able to complete OSHA-10 Certification, CPO/AFO Certification as well as First Aid Certification
Preferred Education:
  • High school diploma or G.E.D., Associates' degree preferred.
