Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor in New Berlin, Wisconsin to lead a shop team responsible for servicing and repairing vehicles and equipment. You will plan and direct daily shop work, enforce preventative maintenance, and ensure safety compliance across the facility.

The role requires experience supervising shop personnel, relevant certifications (DOT, CDL), welding/repair knowledge, and familiarity with maintenance software.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • DOT certification for air brake inspection and annual vehicle inspections.
  • Possess Class B CDL within 6 months of hire.
  • Supervisory experience in a shop or maintenance setting desired.
  • Full set of hand tools required.
  • Knowledge of welding, compactor repair, air brake inspection, vehicle inspections.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, TMW, I-Pak and JDEdwards.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, instructions and procedure manuals, read routine reports and correspondence, and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to calculate discounts, proportions and percentages.
  • Ability to reason and problem-solve.
  • Knowledge of the budgetary process.
  • Ability to perform physical demands, including moving/lifting up to 100 pounds.
  • Valid work authorization in the country where the job is located; visa sponsorship not provided.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the branch maintenance program efficiently and safely
  • Supervise and coordinate employees servicing and repairing equipment and vehicles
  • Provide hands-on maintenance assistance with daily shop tasks
  • Directly supervise maintenance department employees by planning and directing shop work
  • Repair vehicles and equipment and follow up on staff repairs
  • Establish and enforce preventative maintenance programs; schedule maintenance and repairs and verify equipment condition
  • Maintain vehicle inspection, maintenance, and safety records
  • Ensure shop work and facilities comply with safety standards
  • Ensure Safety Lane operates efficiently
  • Coordinate equipment release from service with Operations Supervisor/Management
  • Schedule and conduct safety meetings and document attendees and topics
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and parts and authorize purchases
  • Oversee shop facility and grounds maintenance and appearance
  • Track fuel use, order fuel, and compile monthly fuel reports
  • Track expenses across product lines
  • Review work orders and VCRs daily
  • Run inventory and part-cost queries and enter adjustments
  • Send required monthly reports to the Area Controller
  • Ensure service and pickup trucks and shop facilities are clean and maintained
  • Recruit, interview, hire, train, evaluate, and discipline shop personnel
  • Perform additional duties as requested by management
  • Comply with applicable laws, regulations, company policies, and supervisor directives

Requirements
