Job summary

Wonderful Citrus seeks an experienced Maintenance Leader to develop and execute maintenance and reliability strategies across production, packaging, and facility assets. You will lead supervisors and contractors, plan preventive/predictive maintenance, and manage budgeted maintenance costs while ensuring safety and GMP adherence.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of maintenance leadership experience in a food manufacturing or similar industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of preventive/predictive/corrective maintenance, planning, scheduling, and RCFA.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day maintenance operations for all production, packaging, and facility equipment.
  • Lead maintenance supervisors, technicians, and contractors to foster accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Plan and oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance to maximize equipment uptime and minimize interruptions.
  • Coordinate emergency repairs and breakdown responses safely and efficiently.
  • Manage maintenance work orders, planning, scheduling, and asset history using CMMS.
  • Develop and monitor maintenance KPIs such as uptime, costs, and downtime trends.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, 5S, and TPM.

Job Description
Overview

Responsible for developing, leading, and executing maintenance and reliability strategies to maximize equipment availability, operational efficiency, and asset performance. Ensures the timely and effective delivery of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs, planned overhauls, emergency repairs, and reliability initiatives across all production assets. Leverages internal maintenance teams and specialized external service providers to maintain and optimize sorting, sizing, packaging, bagging, weighing, and other critical processing equipment. Oversees facility maintenance and building repair activities by coordinating internal resources and external contractors to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations.

Here's what you'll do:
  • Manage the day-to-day maintenance operations to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all production, packaging, processing, utility, and facility equipment.
  • Lead, coach, and develop maintenance supervisors, technicians, and contractors while fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Plan, schedule, and oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities to maximize equipment uptime and minimize production interruptions.
  • Coordinate emergency repairs and equipment breakdown response to restore operations safely and efficiently.
  • Manage maintenance work orders, planning, scheduling, and asset history using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Monitor equipment performance and lead Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) to identify recurring failures and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Ensure maintenance activities comply with company safety policies, OSHA regulations, food safety requirements, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Support food safety, quality, customer, and regulatory audits by maintaining equipment in compliance with company and industry standards.
  • Develop and monitor maintenance Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including equipment uptime, work order completion, PM compliance, maintenance costs, and downtime trends.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives that improve equipment reliability, maintenance efficiency, safety, and operating costs using Lean, 5S, and other problem-solving methodologies.
  • Coordinate and supervise outside contractors and service providers to ensure quality workmanship, safety compliance, and timely completion of projects.
  • Assist in developing and managing the annual maintenance budget while controlling labor, material, and contractor expenses.
  • Support the planning, installation, startup, and commissioning of new equipment, facility improvements, and capital projects.
  • Maintain inventory of maintenance spare parts, tools, and critical equipment to support operational needs while controlling inventory costs.
  • Develop standard maintenance procedures, equipment inspection routines, and maintenance documentation to improve consistency and reliability.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Food Safety, and Production teams to support production goals and minimize operational disruptions.
  • Evaluate maintenance staffing needs, assist with hiring, and ensure employees receive the technical and safety training necessary to perform their responsibilities.
  • Ensure facilities, utilities, refrigeration systems, forklifts, and building infrastructure are maintained in safe and reliable operating conditions.
  • Monitor contractor and employee performance, establish clear expectations, and provide regular coaching and performance feedback.
  • Promote a proactive maintenance culture focused on equipment reliability, employee engagement, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Here's what you'll bring to the table:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of maintenance leadership experience in food manufacturing, food processing, or similar industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading maintenance teams, contractors, and cross-functional initiatives in a fast-paced manufacturing operation.
  • Strong knowledge of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance, maintenance planning and scheduling, CMMS, and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA).
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, utilities, refrigeration, and facility maintenance systems.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, TPM, Continuous Improvement, and reliability best practices.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage maintenance budgets, analyze KPIs, and drive equipment reliability and operational performance.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and develop high-performing teams.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, GMP, FSMA, GFSI, and applicable food safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CMMS/EAM platforms (Oracle, SAP PM, Maximo, or equivalent).
  • Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification and bilingual (English/Spanish) are preferred.
