Job summary

First Quality is seeking a Maintenance Manager for the Lock Haven, PA facility to oversee the maintenance of Paper Machines and build a safe, reliable maintenance organization. Responsibilities include leading maintenance teams, promoting CMMS, and driving reliability improvements through proactive maintenance and data analysis.

The role requires a mechanical or electrical engineering background with 10+ years in maintenance, including 3–5 years in a supervisory capacity.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of maintenance field experience, preferably in Paper Machines.
• 3–5 years in a Maintenance Supervisory role.
• Strong planning and scheduling for predictive, preventive, proactive maintenance.
• Strong human relations and interpersonal skills.
• Problem-solving skills to support operational reliability.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a Maintenance Manager for our First Quality Tissue facility located in Lock Haven, PA. This position is responsible for the overall maintenance of the Paper Machines and the development of a safe, reliable, and profitable maintenance organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a safe work culture by adhering to all company safety rules, policies & standards.
• Exhibit strong core leadership skills – accountability, credibility & trust.
• Ensure coaching, discipline, recognition & handling of situations aligns with HR policy.
• Develop salaried and hourly maintenance personnel to ensure bench strength.
• Conduct performance appraisals and coach both salaried & hourly personnel.
• Promote the use of the CMMS system to guide maintenance personnel in the Paper Maintenance team.
• Champion growth of the maintenance team by leading the implementation of:
  • Root Cause Analysis
  • Precision maintenance techniques
  • Preventive maintenance programs
  • Reliability improvements
• Analyze operational data & equipment performance history to improve critical metrics such as unplanned downtime, PM compliance, schedule compliance, MTBF & maintenance‑related costs.
• Champion availability & reliability of assets through:
  • Effective predictive maintenance
  • Effective maintenance planning & scheduling
  • Effective repair techniques
  • Vendor services optimization
• Utilize OEMs and vendors to improve personnel skills & inspection routines.
• Manage Controls and Mechanical Engineers to enhance equipment availability.
• Support all mill reliability efforts.
• Develop and implement a vision for the maintenance team.
• Interface with Production, Engineering, Human Resources, Purchasing, Stores & Utilities departments.
• Develop and maintain staffing plans to meet business requirements.
• Develop and deliver maintenance budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related field. (In lieu of a degree, additional years of experience may be considered.)
• 10+ years of maintenance field experience, preferably in Paper Machines.
• 3‑5 years of experience in a Maintenance Supervisory position.
• Deep understanding of planning and scheduling of maintenance work applicable to predictive, preventive, precision, proactive & planned maintenance.
• Strong human relations & interpersonal skills.
• Strong problem‑solving skills that support operational reliability.
