Job description

Overview

The Maintenance Manager plans, assigns and directs the day-to-day operations of the maintenance department and environmental services. The position implements and manages the plan to meet the mission and goals of the hospital as well as all requirements of TJC and other applicable local, state and federal regulatory and/or accrediting agencies. In addition, the Maintenance Manager provides direct supervision and guidance to maintenance and environmental services staff. This position will support cultural diversity by ensuring that the delivery of quality, equitable and culturally competent patient-centered care is provided; promoting and maintaining an inclusive work environment and culture that is respectful and accepting of diversity; and ensuring that cultural diversity and sensitivity training is part of new employee orientation on an on-going basis to meet the needs of the patient population served in the hospital.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, assign and direct the day-to-day operations of the maintenance department and environmental services.
  • Implement and manage plans to meet the hospital’s mission and goals and comply with TJC and other regulatory/accrediting requirements.
  • Provide direct supervision and guidance to maintenance and environmental services staff.

Qualifications
  • License or Certification: Current valid state driver’s license required.
  • Education, Training, and Experience: High school graduate or equivalent preferred; college desirable. Prior management/supervisory experience required. Experience in facilities maintenance and construction trades required. Healthcare experience preferred.
  • Machines, Equipment Used: General office equipment; motor vehicles; PPE; dollies; pressure washer; hand tools; ladders; HVAC-related equipment; and related gauges and meters.
  • Physical Requirements: Good visual acuity; ability to lift/push/pull at least 50 pounds; ability to climb ladders/scaffolds; ability to work with hazardous materials; complaince with safety standards.
  • Compliance: Adheres to the company’s Standards of Business Conduct; maintains current licensure/certifications, if applicable.
  • Skills and Abilities: Ability to speak, read, write and communicate effectively; ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions and meet deadlines in a detail-oriented manner; ability to work independently without supervision.
  • Environmental Conditions: Indoor, temperature-controlled environment with occasional outdoor exposure; potential exposure to blood and body fluids; handicapped accessible; may work under stressful circumstances.
  • Proficiency or Productivity Standards: Meets attendance standards; adheres to dress code and may work non-standard shifts or holidays as needed; may participate in disaster response as required.
