Job summary

AES Corporation in Indianapolis, IN, is seeking a Maintenance Manager to lead a large maintenance department overseeing electrical and mechanical maintenance, planning and contractor management. The role focuses on safety, reliability and cost efficiency across plant operations.

You will coordinate between Operations and Maintenance to optimize unit reliability and maintenance plans, manage outages and budgets, and provide leadership to a diverse team in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical, Industrial, or related).
  • Minimum of 5–10 years of maintenance or operations leadership experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; SAP experience preferred.
  • Experience in power generation, plant operations, maintenance, or industrial operations preferred.
  • Experience with work management, asset management, maintenance planning, budgeting, and performance management in an industrial environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills with ability to build collaborative relationships across teams.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills with reliability-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership, coaching, counseling, advising and teaching to others through day-to-day contact
  • Performs the duties necessary to safely and reliably maintain power generation assets
  • Directs the maintenance group in developing overall work management philosophy
  • Project management including engineering review, project scope development, develop and review technical specifications, analyze controls solutions and evaluate project impact on the facility
  • Project management including coordination of project activities across multi-discipline groups necessary in the maintenance, operation and installation of these systems
  • Initiates projects as needed to improve station reliability
  • Reviews station annual operating budget; recommends new additions, equipment or changes.
  • Directs and or assists in Engineering evaluations, Factory Acceptance testing, spare parts review, recommendation and procurement

Under general supervision, the Maintenance Manager is responsible and accountable for the continuous safe and efficient management of a large maintenance department covering electrical maintenance, mechanical maintenance, planning and contractor management. Provides leadership, coaching, counseling, advising and teaching to others through day to day contact. Directs, monitors and evaluates performance of direct reports within the reporting organization. Prepares, controls and administers budgets to achieve business results relating to overall performance, cost efficiency and reliability. Coordinates all plant work management activities between the Operations and Maintenance Departments to optimize operational performance goals such as unit reliability, EAF, EFOR, etc. Ensures work priorities are properly established to achieve operational goals, supporting short term, long term, and outage maintenance plans. Manages equipment outage scheduling to achieve optimum balance between market demands, operational performance, and maintenance resource availability. Provides regular communication with System Energy Coordination office.

  • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in maintenance or operations leadership experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with SAP is preferred.
  • Experience in power generation, plant operations, maintenance, or industrial operations is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with work management, asset management, maintenance planning, budgeting, and performance management in an industrial environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills, with the ability to build collaborative relationships across operations, maintenance, engineering, and support teams.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills, with a reliability-focused mindset and the ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced operational environment.
