Job summary

Superior Metal Technologies, LLC is seeking a Maintenance Manager for our 120,000 square foot paint and anodizing facility in Indianapolis, IN. You will plan, execute, and assign maintenance work, drive safety and continuous improvement, and lead a small team to keep production flowing.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, 5+ years in maintenance leadership, and strong troubleshooting skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Five+ years of maintenance leadership experience.
  • Proven troubleshooting and problem solving ability.
  • Experience in an aluminum finishing environment preferred.
  • Previous supervision experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute and assign maintenance work to ensure safe, efficient production.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and uphold safety priorities.
  • Evaluate systems and coordinate repairs with contractors/vendors as needed.
  • Operate and troubleshoot power tools, PLC control systems, and related equipment.

Description

Superior Metal Technologies is looking for a manufacturing Maintenance Manager to handle all aspects of maintenance in our 120,000 square foot paint and anodizing facility. In this position the right person will be able to plan, execute and assign work, implement policies and procedures and recommends improvements in methods, equipment, procedures and working conditions. This position drivescontinuous improvement through the plant operation and may lead others as necessary to maintain a high level of morale. Duties: Where safety is always our top priority, balance safety, quality, cost, productivity and achieving positive results in all areas. Demonstrate commitment to an injury‑free environment and safety and health management program. Evaluates systems or facilities to determine maintenance or repairs that need to be performed and completes these tasks or coordinates with contractors/vendors as needed. Ability to properly operate power tools, and associated equipment. The ideal candidate must be able to perform the above duties in a safe and efficient manner.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent or equivalent work experience.
  • Must have five plus years of experience with maintenance leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and problem solve.
  • Experience in an aluminum finishing environment highly desired.
  • Previous supervision experience required.
  • Proven knowledge of electrical, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance.
  • Willingness to be a hands‑on leader.
  • Self‑starter - ability to work independently and strive for constant improvement.
  • Possess the ability to work in a fast‑paced, time sensitive environment.
  • Strong knowledge of overhead crane systems.
  • Able to program and trouble shoot PLC control systems.
  • Welding aluminum and steel experience.
  • strong knowledge of electrical AC and DC, single phase and 3 phase - 480V,277V,240V,120V,24V,12V.
  • Proper operation of cutting torch
  • Rebuild and troubleshooting pumps (centrifugal and diaphragm)
  • Troubleshooting and repair hydraulics
  • Troubleshooting electrical issues with and with‑out prints
  • Troubleshooting mechanical issues with and with‑out prints
  • On call for after hours as needed
  • Daily breakdown repairs of equipment
  • Able to prioritize work based upon manufacturing production needs.

Physical demands and abilities
  • Regularly required to use hands and fingers to operate and inspect machinery and metal pieces
  • Regularly lift and/or move objects 10-50lbs. Occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 lbs. to position metal objects to begin and finish treatment processes and/or prepare for shipping
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl to position self to move metal objects for treatment or packing.
  • Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus. Must be able to detect slight differences in various finishes.
  • Communicate verbally with coworkers about safety, discrepancy, or variety of other work issues
  • Tolerate working in an environment that may be hot or cold depending on the season and will expose you to loud sounds, dust, fumes and solvents.
