Job Description

Summary

The Maintenance Manager provides vision, leadership, guidance, and direction to the plant's maintenance and transportation groups. The focus is on results regarding equipment availability and reliability, plant availability, overall maintenance costs, as well as efficiency with transportation and material movement functions. This position oversees the administration of the plant maintenance programs and material movement through direct reports.

Essential Functions

  1. Ensure safe product movement and maintenance practices and systems are established and followed.
  2. Provide guidance and leadership to front-line supervisors.
  3. Ensure safety, environmental, and quality compliance.
  4. Justify new equipment or special tools for all areas.
  5. Oversee and be responsible for product movement from material launch to final shipment.
  6. Monitor and control maintenance and transportation personnel levels and labor resource utilization.
  7. Prepare the plant maintenance budget.
  8. Establish area goals and objectives.
  9. Monitor and control maintenance costs.
  10. Monitor and control contract maintenance services.
  11. Evaluate and communicate subordinate performance.
  12. Ensure adequate training and development of all maintenance and material handling/transportation personnel.
  13. Review and monitor special and major projects with Engineering.
  14. Ensure compliance with maintenance standards and procedures.
  15. Interact with peer and senior company leadership.
  16. Ensure maintenance planning and scheduling meet operational goals and objectives.
  17. Ensure material movement and transportation transactions meet operational goals and objectives.
  18. Ensure compliance with departmental and company policies and procedures.
  19. Continuously review maintenance programs, preventative maintenance, and predictive maintenance objectives.

Additional Responsibilities

Collaborate with plant operations and quality leadership teams to eliminate bottlenecks, increase throughput, improve quality, facilitate employee engagement, and increase customer satisfaction.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 7 years relevant experience in a heavy industrial equipment facility.

Special Skills

  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment and machinery.
  • Effective communication skills for developing corrective action plans with subordinate personnel.
  • Ability to utilize creative and technical input from all resources, including hourly, engineering, and purchasing teams.
