MAINTENANCE MANAGER

DEPARTMENT: Elkhart County Buildings & Grounds

HIRING RANGE: $30.95-$34.30/hour based on education and position related experience. Longevity pay after 3 years.

Job Summary

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for managing assigned facilities and related equipment, grounds, and parcels of County Government and supervising staff.

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Possession of and ability to maintain a license in plumbing, electric, and HVAC, or if no license then a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in maintenance and repair of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems, and/or five (5) years or more experience managing buildings and grounds
• Experience in managing assigned staff; interviewing and making hiring recommendations, training, making work assignments, evaluating job performance, keeping staff informed of organization developments, and providing corrective instructions
• Working knowledge of maintenance practices, building/parking lots/grounds upkeep, and basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical trades; apply knowledge to complete renovations/repairs on buildings and equipment with the ability to analyze and diagnose causes of mechanical and electrical malfunctions
• Ability to operate a variety of hand and/or power tools and equipment
• Ability to work with minimum supervision and with others in a team environment
• Ability to work on several tasks at the same time, occasionally under time pressure
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and maintenance manuals
• Possession of a valid driver’s license with demonstrated safe driving record
