Qualifications

  • 3-5 years experience in OSB or heavy manufacturing.
  • 1-3 years managerial experience preferred.
  • Ability to manage cross-functional teams.

Job description

What you will do:

  • Ensure the facility, layout and machinery run to their maximum efficiency and output
  • Total preventative maintenance, managing breakdowns of mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Managing maintenance supervisors, leads and technicians
  • Preparing budgetary/cost reporting for maintenance

Management

  • Delegate any maintenance issues to be resolved on each shift and small projects to the right skills in the team, planning and managing effective works
  • Develop and manage a Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedule that ensures full preventative maintenance is carried out, plan in missed maintenance activities, and lead the team to deliver effectively
  • Track work orders and maintenance requests through CMMS
  • Manage systems, equipment, data storage while maintaining a high level of standards and accuracy
  • Oversee that all training and development is up-to-date for all maintenance team members

Strategy and Development

  • Identify business improvement opportunities within the organization
  • Audit and ensure compliance of the engineering data systems
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems
  • Provide technical expertise to the team
  • Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks in the department
  • Schedule both internal and external work maximizing planned down time and reducing unplanned downtime

Financial and Budget Control

  • Prepare the annual maintenance budget, forecast all capital expenditure proposals as well as ensuring compliance with legal standards
  • Manage the budget from identification to completion of projects
  • Optimize equipment according to standard procedure while enhancing performance and product quality; guaranteeing the achievement of all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Develop clear accountability for maintenance material spend combined with a strategy to manage expenditure

What you will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, industrial management, production operations management or equivalent related experience
  • Extensive plant level experience with proven 3 - 5 years in OSB manufacturing or other heavy manufacturing
  • 1 – 3 years of Managerial experience as supervisor or higher - Wood industry preferred
  • Ability to manage a variety of cross-functional team members
  • Understanding of manufacturing and procurement/supply chain
  • Proactive, enthusiastic, demonstrate effective leadership skills
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong teams
  • Possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
