Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Maintenance Organization to improve machine uptime and reduce tooling/maintenance costs.
  • Establish a Communications Plan with Operations for maintenance coordination on the shop floor.
  • Develop and maintain PM programs and an EMAINT-based system for tracking work orders and maintenance history.
  • Supervise maintenance staff and participate in hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Drive uptime improvements, cost reductions, and plant productivity through disciplined problem solving.

Job description

Job Purpose

Provide leadership to the Maintenance Organization that will result in improved machine uptime while reducing the cost of tooling and maintenance supplies/expenses for the plant.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Establish a Communications Plan with Manufacturing Operations that ensures the highest level of maintenance coordination and support to the shop floor operations.
  • Clear and Well Understood Priorities
  • Clear and Well Understood Maintenance Organization Performance Measures
  • Establish a System for Measuring, Analyzing and Improving Key Equipment Uptime in a way that reduces maintenance burden and improves plant productivity.
  • Measure MTTF (Mean Time To Fail) and MTTR (Mean Time To Repair)
  • Excel at Troubleshooting and developing Troubleshooting Skills within the Maintenance Organization
  • Lead Disciplined Problem Solving efforts to improve both
  • Become an expert in the DOS Maintenance initiatives and work collaboratively with Manufacturing Operations to effectively implement.
  • Establishes and maintains a computerized maintenance management system (EMAINT) for tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history of plant equipment.
  • Establish a disciplined PM system for Critical Equipment.
  • Establish Priorities with Operations Leadership and a process for communicating those to all maintenance employees.
  • Analyze current spare parts spending and develop initiatives that reduce those costs.
  • Develop a strong staff that is motivated and capable of executing the maintenance initiatives and achieving the key maintenance objectives.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Directly supervises maintenance staff.
  • Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Assists with interviewing, hiring, and training maintenance employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems
Education and Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering Discipline is required; Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is Preferred, with 10 years of manufacturing experience
  • Excellent Fundamental Troubleshooting and Problem Solving Skills.
  • Must have expertise and proficiency with basic office computer software, e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook Email and Teams
  • Ability to develop and implement Maintenance strategies that improve key measures.
  • Ability to Develop both Teams and Individuals toward a High-Performance Environment in a Union Plant.
  • Ability to recognize improvement opportunities and the ambition to make a difference.
  • Leadership and Communication Skills necessary to engage and motivate all Maintenance Employees.
