Job summary

Wilson’s Orchard & Farm in Iowa is seeking a Maintenance Manager to lead the upkeep of a wide range of equipment and facilities year-round. Pay depends on experience and abilities, and there is room to grow, including overseeing equipment acquisition and construction projects.

You will develop preventative maintenance plans, inspect, repair, and maintain systems, manage spare parts inventory, and collaborate with managers to minimize downtime across our farm, food service, and related facilities.

Qualifications

• Significant repair and maintenance experience.
• In-depth experience with HVAC and refrigeration systems.
• Strong electrical and mechanical knowledge.
• Organized, efficient and self-motivated.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Some construction and plumbing experience is preferred.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Willing to perform manual labor; physical stamina and dexterity.
• Valid driver’s license with excellent safety record.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot and repair equipment and facilities as required.
• Repair and maintain buildings and building fixtures.
• Maintain an appropriate spare parts inventory.
• Keep shops clean and organized; oversee inventory of tools and equipment.
• Collaborate with other managers to address maintenance needs and minimize downtime.
• Be organized and communicate effectively about maintenance issues and schedules.
• Assist with new construction projects.
• Perform tasks outside of primary area when required.
• Support growth initiatives as the company expands.

Wilson’s Orchard & Farm is a farm, food, and beverage business with locations in Iowa City and Des Moines. Our mission is to help develop local, ethical and regenerative food and farm systems in our communities.

As Maintenance Manager you will be responsible to keep a wide variety of equipment and facilities in good working order. Ideal candidates will have excellent mechanical aptitude, and be organized, efficient and self-motivated. We are a growing business, and there is room to grow in this role, including potentially overseeing equipment acquisition, new construction projects, and other initiatives, once the core maintenance role is effectively managed. This is a full-time, year round job. Pay depends on experience and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement an effective preventative maintenance plan for equipment and facilities.
• Inspect, troubleshoot and repair equipment and facilities as required -- either directly or through outside repair services.
• Repair and maintain buildings and building fixtures.
• Maintain an appropriate spare parts inventory.
• Keep shops clean and organized; responsible for overseeing inventory of tools and other equipment.
• Effectively collaborate and work with other managers and team members to address maintenance needs and minimize downtime.
• Be organized, efficient, and communicate effectively regarding maintenance issues, schedules, and project updates.
• Assist with new construction projects.
• We are a growing company, from time to time we expect and require managers to perform tasks outside of their direct area of responsibility.
