Job summary

Hampton Inn & Suites Deland is seeking a Maintenance Manager to lead the operations and maintenance of the hotel, ensuring safety and guest satisfaction while managing a small team and external contracts.

The role is a hands-on, hourly position with responsibility for budgeting, emergency planning, energy conservation, and routine maintenance tasks to keep the property in top condition.

Qualifications

  • More than two years of post-high school education, but less than a degree from a four-year college.
  • Experience: four to five years of employment in a related position.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise HR in the division: hire, train, coach, performance reviews, and employee development.
  • Develop and manage the division's budget, capital expenditure plans and objectives.
  • Develop and manage a maintenance program and negotiate maintenance contracts for hotel, grounds and equipment.
  • Develop, implement and direct Emergency programs; ensure inspections, drills, codes compliance, and training.
  • Develop, implement and manage an energy conservation program for the property.
  • Perform manual engineering tasks on duty as needed per tickets or guest impact.

Job description

Maintenance Manager at our award-winning, Hampton Inn & Suites Deland, Florida. The hotel has one maintenance person for the hotel, this position is a hands-on, hourly position.

BASIC PURPOSE

Develop, implement and manage emergency programs, programs for the operations & maintenance of all equipment and physical structures and landscaping in compliance with corporate/franchise standards, local, state & national codes and regulations to protect the assets, guests and employees, to ensure optimum operations, minimize expenses and maximize customer satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • 1. Supervise the Human Resources in the division to attract, retain and motivate the staff; hire, train, develop, empower, coach and counsel, conduct performance and salary reviews, resolve problems, provide open communication vehicles, discipline and terminate, as appropriate. (35%)
  • 2. Develop, recommend, implement and manage the division's budget capital expenditure plan, forecasts and objectives consistent with maintaining a first class property and management's expectations. (10%)
  • 3. Develop, implement and manage a maintenance program and negotiate maintenance contracts for the hotel, the grounds and all of the equipment in compliance with corporate/franchise standards and local, state and national codes and regulations to ensure the safety, convenience and satisfaction of all guests, managers and employees to protect the assets and maintain the property in first class condition. (10%)
  • 4. Develop, implement & direct all Emergency programs; ensure all equipment is maintained, conduct inspections & drills, ensure compliance with all codes and regulations, train all employees and maintain accurate records to ensure a safe environment which protects the assets, guests and employees. (10%)
  • 5. Develop, implement and manage an energy conservation program for property to minimize expenses. (5%)
  • 6. Execute manual engineering tasks when on duty as needed and as per tickets or guest related impact items. (25%)
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • 1. Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned. Participate in task forces and committees as requested. (5%)
Knowledge and Skills
  • Education: More than two years of post-high school education, but less than a degree from a four-year college.
  • Experience: Experience required by position is from four to five years of employment in a related position with this company or other organization(s)
  • Skills and Abilities: Requires advanced knowledge of Building Management/Engineering. May require considerable working Knowledge of other major areas in the hotel and the skills to integrate and communicate that information. Requires analyzing activities and/or information involving some original data manipulation or interpretation to arrive at logical conclusions. Requires management skills. Ability to provide information and associated services to hotel management and guests.
  • No. of employees supervised: Supervise one to five employees
  • Travel required: Minimal, training classes, vendors, task force, etc.
  • Hours Required: Hourly position, as scheduled
