General Summary
Oversees and coordinates the work of the Maintenance Departments in accordance with company policies, manufacturing standards, and methods in an Aluminum Extrusion, Machining environment. Focuses on Safety, Quality, Efficiency, and Cost.
Primary Responsibilities
- Ensure all sensitive and confidential information is handled appropriately.
- Ensure 100% adherence to all company policies and procedures (e.g., Health and Safety, Quality, Environmental, OSHA).
- Communicate safety and health concerns discussed in meetings to staff.
- Encourage staff to report safety concerns.
- Create and maintain a positive, continuous improvement work environment.
- Engage with team members to ask questions and gather input.
- Monitor team member turnover and identify areas for improvement.
- Conduct timely and professional team member evaluations.
- Handle discipline and termination following company policy.
- Manage, train, and request additional staff as needed.
- Coach and develop team members to reach their potential.
- Set achievable, accurate targets.
- Direct maintenance activities to ensure reliable production equipment and facilities.
- Review maintenance activities and work schedules with the team.
- Provide training, support, and guidance to staff.
- Collaborate on spare parts management.
- Implement procedures to keep equipment and facilities in good repair.
- Ensure safety and quality standards are met during work.
- Adhere to operational policies, regulations, and procedures.
- Supervise maintenance and operations to meet schedules and resource needs.
- Develop predictive and preventive maintenance programs.
- Assist in training technicians on skills and equipment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proven ability to foster departmental cohesion and lead cross-functional teams.
- Experience as a reliability engineer or similar role with lean process improvements.
- Exceptional communication and documentation skills.
- People-oriented with a focus on developing future leaders.
- Leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and long-term solution development skills.
- Minimum 10 years of aluminum extrusion experience.
- Understanding of electrical, electronics, fabrication, hydraulics, and controls systems.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and terminology.
- Basic math skills and proficiency with measurement tools.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, multicultural environment.
- Effective planning, supervision, and prioritization skills.
- Flexibility to work shifts and handle overtime.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to diagnose problems and implement solutions.
- Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.
- Experience with CMMS and Microsoft Office applications.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- High School Diploma.
- Minimum 10 years of maintenance/production experience with increasing responsibility.
- At least 2 years of leadership experience as a supervisor or assistant manager.
- Experience managing repair operations for electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
Physical Functions
- Ability to talk, hear, see, and perform physical inspections and adjustments.
- Capable of walking, standing, and occasional climbing or bending.
- Lift 30-50 pounds as needed.
