Responsibilities

  • Serve as a working manager by actively participating in daily maintenance tasks alongside the team.
  • Lead and manage maintenance activities related to shredders, grinders, and other production equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical and electrical issues to minimize downtime.
  • Operate and maintain heavy industrial equipment including grinders and shredders.
  • Develop and oversee preventative maintenance programs to extend equipment life and reduce outages.
  • Supervise and train maintenance technicians to ensure safe, efficient work practices.
  • Prioritize and schedule work orders using a work order management system.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.
  • Manage spare parts inventory and coordinate vendor/contractor support when needed.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts to improve reliability and uptime.

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Manager is a working manager responsible for both leading the maintenance team and actively participating in hands‑on maintenance work. This role oversees all maintenance activities on the production side of Liberty Tire Recycling, including the operation, repair, and upkeep of shredders, grinders, and related equipment. The ideal candidate will bring strong troubleshooting skills, electrical expertise, and the ability to balance leadership with direct involvement on the floor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a working manager by actively participating in daily maintenance tasks alongside the team.
  • Lead and manage all maintenance activities related to shredders, grinders, and other production equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical and electrical issues to minimize downtime.
  • Operate and maintain heavy industrial equipment including grinders and shredders.
  • Develop and oversee preventative maintenance programs to extend equipment life and reduce unplanned outages.
  • Supervise and train maintenance technicians to ensure safe, efficient work practices.
  • Prioritize and schedule work orders using a work order management system.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.
  • Manage spare parts inventory and coordinate vendor/contractor support when needed.
  • Support and drive continuous improvement efforts to improve reliability and uptime.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and equipment manuals.
  • Hands‑on experience with shredders, grinders, and other heavy industrial equipment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a maintenance team.
  • Experience with work order systems and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Comfortable working in a hands‑on, fast‑paced production environment.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school certification a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years of maintenance management experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or recycling environment.
  • Experience in tire recycling or similar heavy industry is highly desirable.
