Job summary

Pratt & Whitney Asheville is seeking a hardworking Maintenance Manager - Machining to lead a salaried team and coordinate maintenance and contractor work in our turbine airfoil facility in Asheville, NC.

You will drive preventive maintenance, safety, and equipment upgrades using SAP and related systems, develop training, and create schedules to keep production running smoothly.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with at least 8 years in facilities maintenance, machine tool service, engineering, manufacturing or aerospace aftermarket experience.
  • An Advanced Degree in a related field with at least 5 years of experience.
  • Must have experience leading a team in a manufacturing or production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate day-to-day activities with Maintenance Supervisors and Technicians.
  • Lead a 5-shift model of Supervisors and Maintenance Technicians.
  • Ensure training is on time for the maintenance team and coordinate.
  • Review maintenance development training.
  • Coordinate Training with Manufacturers and internal personnel for the maintenance team.
  • Analyze machinery failure analysis to determine proper repair procedures and equipment upgrades.
  • Lead implementation of mistake proofing changes to increase uptime.
  • Review, revise, and draft preventive maintenance procedures with the maintenance team.
  • Initiate maintenance contracts to ensure all machinery operates optimally.
  • Partner with EH&S to address machinery-related safety and environmental concerns.
  • Ensure proper functioning of machines through ongoing inspection & PMs.
  • Craft work schedules to integrate MTS plan with service providers.
  • Support Manufacturing Cell transformations by moving equipment and installing new capital equipment.
  • Coordinate and manage contractor efforts on site and create pre-job reports.
  • Use SAP to create Purchase Requests and generate purchase orders for contracts.
  • Ensure safety/environmental procedural requirements are met through MOC.
  • Create statements of work for contractors.

Pratt and Whitney Asheville is looking for a hardworking and high-energy Maintenance Manager - Machining at our Asheville, NC turbine airfoil facility. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a team of salaried personnel, maintenance technicians and outside contractors to construct, maintain, and repair equipment in the manufacturing shop.

What You Will Do
  • Coordinate day-to-day activities setting goals and objectives with Maintenance Supervisors and Technicians.
  • Communicate to the whole Maintenance department, reviewing Metrics, vision and development for the team.
  • Manage a 5-shift model of Supervisors and Maintenance Technicians.
  • Ensure training is on time for the maintenance team and coordinate.
  • Review and manage Maintenance Development training.
  • Coordinate Training with Manufacturers and internal personnel for the maintenance Team.
  • Analyze machinery failure analysis to determine proper repair procedures and equipment upgrades.
  • Lead implementation of mistake proofing changes to maintain/increase up time of equipment.
  • Review, revise, and, where necessary, draft preventative maintenance procedures with the maintenance team.
  • Initiate maintenance contracts as required to ensure all machinery is operating at optimum performance.
  • Partner with environmental health and safety department to correct and mitigate EH&S concerning machinery repairs or functionality.
  • Ensure proper functioning of machines through ongoing inspection & PM’s.
  • Craft work schedules to ensure MTS plan is integrated with internal and external facility services providers.
  • Support Manufacturing Cell transformations by assisting on moving existing equipment and installing newly acquired capital equipment following sign offs and policies.
  • Coordinate and manage contactor efforts on site, from procurement of services to creating pre-job reports and ensuring clear communication within Maintenance.
  • Use SAP to create Purchase Requests to generate purchase orders to ensure valid method of payment prior to starting contract work.
  • For new equipment and process changes, ensure all safety and environmental procedural requirements are met through Pratt and Whitney Management of Change procedure.
  • Create statements of work for contractors to perform construction, equipment installations and maintenance projects.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years' experience in Facilities Maintenance, Machine Tool Service, Engineering, Manufacturing or general Aerospace Aftermarket industry experience;
  • or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years’ experience.
  • Must have experience leading a team in a manufacturing or production environment.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Bachelor’s degree STEM fields preferred.
  • Troubleshooting and maintenance experience.
  • Mechanical aptitude with ability to troubleshoot, repair and maintain machine tools.
  • Project management experience and ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with problem-solving tools such as root cause and corrective action (RCCA).
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, and continuous improvement tools (CORE/ACE/Six Sigma).
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, Solumina, SAP, or similar MRP/ERP systems.
  • Ability to work and effectively communicate with all levels of management, shop personnel and customers.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
