Job summary

United States Cold Storage, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support the Engineering team at our McDonough, GA facility. You will assist the maintenance department, perform routine tasks, and help keep equipment and the building in safe, reliable condition.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent, basic hand and power tool knowledge, and experience with preventive maintenance. You will work in a fast‑paced environment, follow safety procedures, and support emergency

Responsibilities

  • Provide general support to the maintenance department when training allows.
  • Maintain professionalism and foster collaboration with facility management and team members.
  • Complete painting assignments, including working at heights in cold environments.
  • Maintain and replace forklift batteries and perform routine inspections.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks and log monthly equipment hours.
  • Conduct regular building maintenance for safety and cleanliness.
  • Complete work orders and document maintenance activities.
  • Participate in training for equipment safety and operation.

Responsibilities
  • Provide general support to the maintenance department filling in when training allows, and is approved, to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism, fostering collaboration, effective problem-solving, and strong working relationships with facility management and team members.
  • Complete painting assignments as required, including working at heights (e.g., ladders) and in varying environmental conditions such as cold temperatures.
  • Maintain and replace forklift batteries, performing routine inspections and maintenance as needed to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks, including (but not limited to) inspecting fire extinguishers, logging monthly equipment hours, and checking emergency lighting and eyewash stations.
  • Conduct regular building maintenance to ensure facility cleanliness, safety, and functionality.
  • Accurately complete work orders and maintain detailed documentation of all maintenance activities performed.
  • Participate in training for various pieces of equipment in order to safely maintain, inspect, and potentially repair them.
  • Support emergency response efforts as required.
  • Successfully complete required annual emergency response physicals, including lung capacity and hearing tests as required.
  • Individual technicians who show advanced ability may be asked to perform or assist with entry-level refrigeration tasks such as completing refrigeration logs under supervision, provided appropriate training and certifications have been completed.

What We Are Looking For

The Ideal candidate will have or be able to complete the below qualifications.

  • Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Skills:
  • Previous maintenance experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of general hand and power tools.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance preferred.

  • Operate scanners, tablets, radios, phones, computers, and other essential warehouse equipment as required.
  • Additional work hours may be requested by management to help manage employee production, projects, and or special events.
  • Operate a registered motor vehicle if apart of daily tasks.
  • Engage in frequent personal interaction and communication.
  • Possess strong arithmetic and reading skills.
  • Follow verbal instructions, written instructions, and company policies.
  • Be a self-starter, able to work independently and coordinate with others.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing stress and meeting productivity guidelines.
