Job summary

Maker's Pride in McComb, Ohio is looking for a Maintenance Lead I responsible for ensuring equipment reliability through preventive maintenance and repairs. The successful candidate will collaborate with production leadership and maintenance technicians to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues and document work performed.

The role requires strong mechanical skills, familiarity with maintenance software, and a commitment to safety and compliance. Additional benefits include health insurance and a sign-on bonus of $5,000.

Qualifications

• Industrial maintenance experience is required.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting up to 480V is desired.
• Ability to troubleshoot and perform mechanical and electrical repairs.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

Responsible for equipment reliability, including, but not limited to, performing preventive maintenance (PMs), work orders, and emergency repairs as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor or self. Ensures production equipment is properly maintained to produce a wide variety of products. Acts as liaison between Production leadership and maintenance technicians, coordinates repairs, participates in equipment inspections, and fills in for the maintenance supervisor.

Hours of Operation

Monday through Friday with overtime and weekend availability. 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

Sign-on Bonus Incentive

• Maintenance Lead I: $5,000– 50% on first pay, 50% after 90 days.

Job Duties

• Coordinate with others of varying levels to ensure alignment and prioritization for technicians.
• Troubleshoot and perform mechanical and some electrical repairs on processing equipment.
• Plan, schedule, and execute PMs based on production line downtime and priorities, performing PMs as needed.
• Document work performed through the CMMS system and hold the team accountable to logging time, parts, and details.
• Operate a forklift and manlift as needed.
• Actively participate and support maintenance/production KPIs; attend meetings as required.
• Perform electrical repairs on processing equipment from 24 V DC to 480 V AC.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics.
• Mentor junior grade mechanics and operators.
• Oversee and direct others as required by assignment.
• Prepare end-of-shift reports.
• Work with safety in mind at all times, maintain a clean and organized workspace, and audit the shop for these attributes.

Knowledge

• Industrial maintenance experience.
• Root cause and breakdown analysis.
• Preventive maintenance practices and their importance.

Skills

• Mechanical repairs on processing equipment.
• Fabrication with TIG, MIG welders, lathe, mill, drill press, bench grinder, band saw, shear, break, press and other shop and hand tools.
• Read and interpret documents such as drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and equipment manuals.
• Practical problem solving; interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled instructions.
• Electrical knowledge including AC/DC circuits, motor controls with VFDs preferred.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings.
• Use electrical test instruments such as volt/ohm/milliamp meter, amp probe, and megger.
• Multi-task while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

Abilities

• Communicate efficiently, analyze, lead, and work effectively with all levels of the organization.
• Detail-oriented, self-directed, strong self-confidence, and excellent oral communication skills.

Proficiency

MS Office (Outlook and Excel) and CMMS systems such as EAM, MVP, etc.

Work Environment

• Continuous production environment with noise, dust, moving machinery, forklifts, and temperature fluctuations.
• Maintain harmonious working relations with employees from all departments and management at all levels.
• Communicate effectively with all employees and management.

Physical Requirements

• Stand for extended periods.
• Stand, walk, and climb stairs frequently.
• Lift up to 50 pounds infrequently.

Minimum Qualifications

• 1–3 years minimum in a leadership role.
• 3–7 years related work experience (food industry a plus).
• Strong electrical troubleshooting up to 480 V desired.

Follow factory safety & environmental objectives, report incidents and near misses, maintain regulatory compliance, and take personal ownership of safety for visitors and contractors. Reduce negative environmental impacts through conserving paper, electricity, water, and recycling appropriate materials.

Quality

Follow factory food safety and quality objectives, GMP, report issues immediately, maintain compliance, and understand food safety and quality aspects per QMS, OJT, and SOPs.
